In the NFL, age isn’t just a number—it’s a story. Some guys grind for years, battling through heartbreaks before finally hoisting the Lombardi. Just ask Peyton Manning, who finally got his first ring as a starter at 30, or John Elway, who had to wait until he was 37. Then there’s the other end of the spectrum—like Big Ben at 23 or Patrick Mahomes at 24, who burst onto the scene and snagged a Super Bowl early.

And somewhere in that elite club of young champions, the New York Giants‘ QB, Russell Wilson, made sure his name still stands. On Friday, Wilson took to his official IG handle and shared a post in his story originally posted by nflonprime a couple of days ago. The post titled “Youngest starting QBs to win the Super Bowl” includes the star QBs who hoisted a Lombardi even before they celebrated their 26th birthday.

“God is good,” Wilson wrote in his story, sitting at No. 4 among the youngest QBs to ever win a Super Bowl—just 24 years, 2 months, and 4 days old when he got the job done. At the top? It’s none other than Ben Roethlisberger—at 23 years, 11 months, and 3 days, followed by Patrick Mahomes at 24 years, 4 months, and 16 days.

And when we talk about the Super Bowl, how can we forget the NFL GOAT, Tom Brady, who’s sitting at No. 3—just 24 years and 6 months? So yeah, in a career spanning 16 years, Wilson has secured his name as one of the youngest QBs to lift a Lombardi. And let’s not forget that the guy snagged that Super Bowl ring for the Seahawks just in his second season.

The Seattle team drafted Wilson in the third round with the 75th overall pick. Fast forward to his sophomore year, and let’s just say the Seahawks winning that Super Bowl wasn’t just a win—it was an absolute beatdown. Right from the first snap, when the ball flew past Peyton Manning’s head for a safety, it was clear Seattle was about to throw a party. The defense dominated, forcing the Broncos‘ record-setting offense to a single touchdown.

And Wilson? Cool as ever, slicing up Denver’s defense like a seasoned vet. The guy played like someone who had been there a hundred times before. Throwing for 206 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions for a 123.1 passer rating, Wilson led the Seahawks to a jaw-dropping, one-sided, 43-8 victory. And yeah, just at the age of 24 years, 2 months, and 4 days.

Fast forward to now and the 36-year-old veteran is gearing up to don a new jersey, in a new city, and with a new team.

Will Russell Wilson start for the Giants?

Ever since the Seahawks traded Wilson to the Broncos back in the 2022 season, the veteran QB has struggled to find a consistent home. After spending a couple of years in Denver and a brief stint with the Steelers, the Giants scooped him up on a one-year $21 million deal, finally hitting a pause to this never-ending QB drama in New York. But the big question is: Is he going to start in 2025?

Well, in the meantime, the guy’s expecting to start for the Big Blue. “I expect to be the starter and to be able to come here and rock and roll every day,” Wilson said on Wednesday. “I think this team’s really looking for somebody to lead them in every way — in terms of the process, in the offseason, during the season, our habits and our thought process and how we create a great winning culture.”

The interesting part? Wilson joined Jameis Winston, who earlier signed a 2-year $8 million deal with the Giants. Sure, the New York team’s not going to start with Winston. The kicker? With the No.3 Overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, the team is looking to draft a rookie QB in April. That means Wilson would have to compete with Winston and a rookie QB to snag that QB1 role.

“The great part about professional sports is constant change, constant movement,” Wilson said. “If we draft a quarterback, we’ll make sure he does everything he can to be ready to go and be prepared with his mentality. But for me, I’m focused on winning—what I can do as a quarterback of the New York Giants to help us win and do everything we can to lead.” Wilson is coming after a notable 6-5 performance in the last season, leading Pittsburgh to the Wild Card round.

The guy threw for 2,482 yards with 16 touchdown passes and five interceptions. But the highlight of that season came when the Steelers lost the last five games of the season. Ever since then the 36-year-old QB struggled to find a new home before eventually landing in New York. With the Giants already have a couple of vets and with their sight on a rookie QB, Russell Wilson’s starting role for the Giants is still up in the air.
