Big news for football players in Canada! Y’all know Roger Goodell leads the charge on NFL reforms! His move of playing more international NFL games is popular while Goodell’s road map of adding one more game to the NFL’s regular season was the most debatable one. Packers legend Brett Favre wasn’t happy with Goodell’s decision to add one more game to the regular season. Favre’s concern was current professionals would break the legendary NFL records by having one more game to achieve good stats. Well, but this time, Goodell has come up with surprising news for Canadian football players and enthusiasts. 

The NFL’s news and press release division published a document titled,New Initiative Aims to Educate University and College Student-Athletes on Responsible Gambling Practices’ on Jan 25. It is a responsible and comprehensive gambling program. In the upcoming spring, the NFL and RGC (Responsible Gambling Council) will launch a pilot program for this across colleges in Canada.

The CEO of the RGC has promised students by describing, “Student-athletes face unique pressures from academics, athletics, and the accessibility of sports betting, making them vulnerable to risky gambling behaviors. Our partnership with the NFL is a crucial step in supporting this group by providing the education and tools needed.” Do you know what this program includes?

This program will give students across Canada information and knowledgeable videos related to gambling, with interactive components. Its focus is obviously on educating students to gamble with information and evaluate the risks involved. The end goal of this move by Roger Goodell is to reduce the harm students face with gambling.

Canada, though mostly known for ice hockey, is full of professional football potential. This season also saw many outstanding plays by Canadian NFL players. But you know there are five Canadian players in the NFL’s playoffs this season. Wanna know which are those players? Let’s dive in! 

Goodell’s NFL to have any of the five Canadians as SB winner

The NFL is near the end zone. Indeed, in a few hours, the picture of the top SB contenders will be clear. Proud news for Canada. Nevertheless, except for the Kansas City Chiefs, all three teams have at least one Canadian player. 

The Buffalo Bills have most- three- numbers of Canadians on the roster. The first one is Dalton Kincaid (tight end) whose mom was born in Canada. The 2nd player is Taylor Rapp (safety) who is American-born but his father’s ancestors are from Canada. And the third player of the Bills is Eli Ankou (defensive tackle) who was born and brought up in Ottawa, Canada.

Moreover, the other two Canadians are one each from the Washington Commanders and Eagles. The Commanders cornerback Benjamin St-Juste is a native of Montreal, Canada, and was drafted by the Commanders in the 3rd round of 2021 NFL drafts. In the case of the Philadelphia Eagles, their safety Sydney Brown is of Canadian origin. The 24-year-old safety was born in Ontario, Canada.

Roger Goodell’s NFL has tons of Canadian players and the people of Canada are proud of the fact that they play professional football and are at the top. But let’s see if the three of the Bills players become the Super Bowl champion or Washington player or Philadelphia player.
