The football fans can’t forget what they saw in the Texans vs. Chiefs game. The Chiefs won the divisional game; it’s all happy-go-lucky. But the game was highlighted by the foul call made by the refs. Though referees have tried to justify their point, it’s over now. By now people have made their opinions on the Chiefs victories firm. But what’s the solution to this? Well, a former NFL official has expressed a solution, but it’s all futile if Roger Goodell, commissioner of the NFL, won’t consider it.
The former NFL official and current VP of UFL official Mike Pereira was on the Rich Eisen Show. On the question about what happened in the Chiefs-Texans matchup, he gave an example of the United Football League. Maybe Rich Eisen and Mike Pereira wanted to convey some message when they were talking about making ‘a replay’ of the foul permanent. How cool that sounds, huh? But Pereira said, “But I don’t think it’s a good thing for the actual officials on the field.”
But then the 74-year-old Fox analyst said, “Somebody who’s not on the field put a flag down. Well, you know, I change all the time. I’m changing a little bit now. Look what we’re doing in the spring football league. Okay, what are we doing in the spring football league? Okay!” Apart from this, when he was talking about the controversial ‘roughness’ calls in the recent games, Mike Pereira said, “when you look at the roughing the passer, if it’s called a hit to the head or neck area, if there’s no contact, if there’s absolutely no contact, replay can take it off.”

Pereira continued, “When I’ve talked to them, you know they say this is part of the thing that we’re making a move. If something’s called, we can get involved, and we can take it off. The problem is not that it’s mostly like when we think about the face mask situation; it’s what’s not called that gives just as much angst as what is called.” He was talking about the unnecessary roughness calls they are making, whether they are scrutinized or not. Roger Goodell can make changes to these flaws. And why are the reforms needed? Imagine a situation in which you have a watchman to take care of your house at night. But who will watch the watchman?
The NFL referees, especially Clay Martin, were criticized heavily for calling unnecessary fouls in the Chiefs–Texans divisional game. But what exactly happened in the game? Were they really perfect calls?

Roger Goodell should take note of controversial calls in the Chiefs-Texans matchup
The Chiefs defeated the Texans in the divisional round in a 23-14 matchup. But the Texans HC DeMeco Ryans has been hurt more by the controversial fouls in the matchup than not being in the conference championship. The game had a total of 8 penalties on the Texans. The most debatable call by referee Clay Martin was on the Texans’ edge rusher Will Anderson Jr., where he barely pushed Patrick Mahomes.

Another such case was when LB Henry To’oTo’o was called for unnecessary roughness in the 3rd quarter. He was called when both the Texans players collided with each other’s helmet when he slid. When Clay Martin was asked about this, his response was, “Yeah, so he slid, obviously. And when he slides, he is considered defenseless. The onus is on the defender. I had forcible contact there, to the hairline to the helmet.”

What’s your perspective on:
Are the Chiefs' victories tainted by controversial calls, or is it just part of the game?
Have an interesting take?
Well, the league and Commissioner Roger Goodell must focus on this issue, as the whole management of the league has been called biased. If Roger Goodell can think about changing the number of games in the league and playing matchups outside of America, he can definitely work on this!
