NFL is going global and Pittsburgh Steelers is leading the way for them. The franchise is popular all over the world. Fans in Germany, Mexico, and Ireland love the team. Now, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is also doing everything in his power to help them financially.
He recently announced that the 2026 NFL Draft would take place at Pittsburgh. More than 50 million people would watch the live proceedings. It would bring in around $200 million in revenue for the team. That’s huge.

Goodell was very happy after he toured the Acrisure Stadium before the week 8 game. While talking about the impact of the Black and the Gold, he optimistically said, “The Steelers are one of our more capital franchises on a global basis.” He had the same outlook on the 2026 draft that would put the city in the eyes of everyone. “There will be an obvious economic impact, which is extraordinarily significant. The latest estimates are well over $200 million,” were his exact words.
The team, owned by the Rooney Family, since it was established in 1933 has been a giant in the league. With 34 playoff appearances and 6 Super Bowls, the Blitzburgh don’t need any introduction. Their rich cultural history with the love of the local community has made them fan favorites all over the world.

However, the NFL Commissioner loves them for more things. It’s their commitment to women’s sports.

The first reason is his history with the club. When he studied at the Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, he was a regular at their games. He has firsthand seen how the Steelers have utilized its resources to bring the community together. It all comes to football.

The Black and the Gold, in partnership with the Eagles and NFL Foundation, have worked extensively for a flag football league for women. Roger Goodell, being a girl dad, likes them to their initiatives to support the women. Not only he is happy about it, but he is proud of the franchise for this. They ran the league for 3 years, following which the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) officially sanctioned as a sport across the state schools in 2025-2026. That’s a milestone.
The success of the club as a sports franchise can be attributed to such generous endeavors. Now, with the fans all across the world, it’s a matter of a few years before they become one of the most recognized NFL teams. The league is charting new territories and has such big clubs that not only enhances their appeal but brings in more people to watch the competitive games. It truly is the world’s biggest and toughest football league.
