The legendary Shannon Sharpe is not letting David Tepper off the hook easily after a controversial incident. Losing 14 games this season, the Carolina Panthers have become the worst-performing team of the season. Making matters even worse, the team was unable to secure even a single point in their last game against the Jaguars. Witnessing the scenes unfold, the owner of the team, David Tepper, lost his temper and his abrasive behavior grabbed major attention from the NFL community.

As the Jaguars gave a 26-0 beat down to the Panthers at their home ground, fans went all aboard during celebrations. At one such moment, David Tepper threw his drink on the Jaguars’ fan base from the window of his cabin. The video surfaced on the internet, and it looks like Tepper went through with the incident deliberately out of anger. Shannon Sharpe is rightly furious with the same and wants the NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to take some strict decisions.

In a recent episode of Nightcap, Sharpe addressed Chad Johnson about the video, “David Tepper who is the owner of the Carolina Panthers, a video surfaced of throwing a drink on the Jaguars fan today.” He expressed his anger with the Panthers’ owner concerning the incident and commented on how Tepper should not get away with this.

The podcast host remarked, “Roger Goodell gotta come down hard.” He further mentioned how Tepper should at least be fined in such a scenario, “probably somewhere between half a million and a million dollars.”

Shannon Sharpe added how he wants David Tepper “suspended” for some time. Ocho thought for a second about Sharpe’s comment and replied, “I like the fine because we get fined for every little thing.” The 55-year-old football commentator interrupted Ocho and exclaimed, “That’s not a player that’s an owner.”

His inclination from this statement was toward the kind of responsibility that an owner should reflect, along with respect for the admirers of the sport. Bringing forth the owner’s perspective and acknowledging his emotions, Johnson mentioned, “Even in a seat in a position of power like that even he can feel that way.”

He further added, “Because he is human, he is the owner, obviously he cares.” The conversation further took a turn toward the kind of season the Panthers have had and how their performance has been thoroughly subpar.

Worst season for the Panthers in the NFL

Ahead in the video, Sharpe also questioned the decision-making of Tepper in hiring and firing coaches. In the last five years, Tepper has changed five coaches, with three of them in the middle of the season. Johnson tried to understand the patterns as Tepper is a businessman and this is what they usually do but things don’t work like that in Football. He exclaimed how the sport has specific demands not exactly being fulfilled by the Carolina side at the moment, “It takes time building a team, building a rapport.”

Ocho’s reflection on their team building sure reciprocates in their performance as the team has not made it into the playoffs for six years now. The Panthers have only won two games this season, making it their worst one since the team first played in 1995. With only one week left in the regular season, the Panthers will be playing for saving grace against the Bucs at their home ground.
