Amidst growing criticism of the New York Jets‘ offensive struggles, Aaron Rodgers has stepped up to defend the offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett. Rodgers, the New York Jets quarterback, is not departing from the NFL for the vice presidential role under Robert Kennedy Jr. As his football ambitions align to see the Jets at the Super Bowl, he is backing up Hackett and placing his trust in him.

The interview clip posted by Mad Dog Sports Radio, in a talk with Adam Schein, evidenced this. While the entire interview is available for streaming on SiriusXM, the clip gives insight into Rodgers’ faith in Hackett, reminiscent of their iconic partnership across these years. The post caption reads, “Aaron Rodgers tells @AdamSchein why #Jets fans should trust OC Nathaniel Hackett this upcoming season,” highlighting the key statement by Rodgers, “You should trust me. And I trust Nathaniel. So, to me, that’s end of story.”

Reinstating his support for Nathaniel over the concerns that his guidance has not yielded positive results in the past two years, Rodgers fights it back. “There’s been a lot of BS that’s been said out there. There’s a lot of things that have gone on in the last couple years that he’s dealt with that I think he’s handled very professionally. And at the end of the day, I think you gotta trust his and my working relationship and the conversations that we have. You gotta trust the staff,” Rodgers comments.

He further adds that together they have improved on multiple things, while some have been out of their control. “At the end of the day, his and I’s partnership is one that’s been fruitful in the past and it’s going to be fruitful again,” showing optimism for the future results.

For the 2023 season, Hackett’s plan intervened with Aaron Rodgers’ Achilles injury, as Zach Wilson took over as the QB. Rodgers’ absence critically challenged them, but Hackett and Rodgers’ renewed partnership supercharges them for the 2024 season. With the ambition to make it to the playoffs for the first time since 2010, the zeal is on.

Hackett will remain the primary offensive play-caller

Robert Saleh, Jets head coach has released his statement at the OTA session that Hackett will continue his position as the primary offensive play-caller for the 2024 season. Talking about the key takeaways from last season, he commented, “Last year was a tremendous learning experience for everybody.” Saleh continues, “It’s about building an offense that can weather the storm of injury,” referring to Rodgers.

There have been rumors about Hackett’s replacement, an offensive coordinator. However, Hackett dismissed it as he revealed that he involved himself in all offseason discussions.“I don’t know what those reports are and I don’t know where their sources came from,” invalidating those rumors.

Hackett still has Saleh’s confidence intact. With a few replacements to the offensive staff, Hackett continues to be a core member of the team, as they are ready for the 2024 season.
