With just three games remaining in the regular season, the New York Jets are making a big change to their starting lineup! After the humiliating 30-0 defeat to the Miami Dolphins, Head Coach Robert Saleh does not want to give quarterback Zach Wilson any more chances. In addition, he has been concussed. In the game, his pass completion rate was a pitiable 36.4% and ended the game with a QBR of 4.1. So, who has been roped in to replace Zach?

Ahead of the change, Saleh had said, “He’s got to clear some hurdles over the weekend. It’s going to be one of those where we’ll see.” It looks like now Wilson himself is going to be the hurdle that Saleh will have to clear.

Senior NFL Insider, Adam Schefter, took to X to break the news that HC Salah has chosen 31-year-old Trevor Siemian to start in the game against the 4-10 Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football. Siemian has just played two games in the season so far and has lost both of them.

Siemian is the fourth quarterback on the Jets’ roster, which is the first time for them since 1989 when they recorded a 4-12 losing season with four different QBs. For Saleh, however, Siemian will be the sixth different starter in 3 years. The Jets’ fourth QB and Siemian’s backup is Brett Rypien.

Speaking about being allowed to play, Siemian said, “[I’m] super grateful. At this point in my career especially, any chance I get to play is awesome.” But fans don’t think that the team will be better off under him, as he has not won a start in six years!

The Jets are sure to miss this season’s playoffs, making it the 13th consecutive season for them. Bringing in Siemian seems like an attempt at salvaging the situation. He has started in 30 games, and the last time he won a game was in 2017. He was signed to the Jets rosters on September 26, a fortnight after 4x NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers, sustained his season-ending injury.

Even though he was signed as an emergency option, the multiple quarterback injuries and performance issues that have plagued the Jets this year, forced him to move up the ladder. Speaking about Siemian, OC Nathaniel Hackett said that he trusted him and that he prepares well. “I think for the situation, for the lack of practice, he’s done a pretty good job of running the huddle.”
