Is Robert Kraft defending his own ideology? Although the dynasty with the team has ended for Bill Belichick, the era has been revived once again for the New England Patriots’ audience. However, with a twist!

A 10-part series “Dynasty” that showcases unseen footage of the Patriots’ journey over 20 years, documenting their transformation from a struggling team to a football dynasty, is out. This series has been available for viewing on Apple TV+ since February 16th. However, ever since the episodes have been released, multiple speculations and criticisms have been swirling around on the internet. One being the Robert Kraft-Bill Belichick controversy.

On social media, Patriots fans and many others criticized the franchise’s $11.1 billion owner, Robert Kraft, alleging that it was a deliberate hit on Bill Belichick from the owner, and the documentary failed to feature what exactly happened during that phase. According to the alleged rumors, “the series unfairly distilled Bill Belichick’s career to his mistakes.” However, a disappointed Kraft stood up against the backlash, protecting Belichick and his own words. But the boiling controversy didn’t seem to subside soon, as many are claiming that without an approval, any documentary under Kraft’s copyright claim cannot be released, indicating Kraft’s hands in Belichick’s negative image portrayal.

However, in a recent episode of NFL on NBC, Mike Florio and Chris Simms talked about it, speculating on the false claims. Florio expressed, “A lot of people have just taken it as that Kraft’s fingerprints are all over it literally and figuratively that he was the one ultimately behind it. People believe that, so that’s why they were surprised by his reaction,” wherein Kraft has shown his disappointment in Belichick’s portrayal.

People were surprised by Kraft’s criticism because there was a common belief that he was heavily involved in the production of the “Dynasty” series, given that his company, Kraft Dynasty LLC, is credited at the end of every episode. Simms emphasized it is common for the owner of a football team to have their LLC associated with projects like this for legal protection, rather than being directly involved in the production process. Hence, they highlighted that it is quite possible for Kraft to not be involved in Belichick’s portrayal, ultimately making his defending statements true. Nevertheless, it’s unclear whether Kraft actually had a significant role in the series, as he has made no statements about it publicly.

However, this incident raises one question among the audience.

After Bill Belichick resigned with the Jets, Robert Kraft approached him to ask for his hand for the Patriots’ long term coach. Belichick agreed. At one league event many years ago, the coach wore a blue pin given by Kraft. When asked about it, Belichick said it was Kraft’s initiative, and he supported it.

Kraft even once compared their relationship to a marriage and took pride in keeping the team together for over 20 years, even during tough times like Tom Brady’s departure. However, as the NFL is arguably seen as a business league, the downfall in the performances ultimately led to their separation. Overall it seems they had a strong bond and good relationship with each other.
