In the NFL, players are always updating their look. We saw Patrick Mahomes surprising his fans a few weeks ago with a new cut right after the Super Bowl. And then, in the 2024 season, Joe Burrow ditched his signature curls for a cleaner cut. Even Josh Allen shocked Bills Mafia when he trimmed down his long, shaggy locks. Just when you thought you’d seen it all, another NFLer has donned a new look. This time, he is a former one.
Gronk, who arrived at the door with a new haircut, went full cue ball. No fade, no trim, no stylish new look. Just 100% bald. But why did he? Is it out of a lost bet? A new Hollywood role? But no. The real reason is even better.
Rob Gronkowski put up a story on Instagram where he’s at a charity event, flexing and smiling alongside a young boy named Mateo. One Mission, an NGO that helps children battling cancer, organized the event. In the story, Gronk is wearing a gray T-shirt with the words “No One Fights Alone” in bold letters, directing his support for kids undergoing treatment. Mateo is wearing a bright green shirt that says Buzz Buddy, indicating that he, too, is battling cancer and wants the audience to support the cause.

His IG story includes a message: “Join me to help kids like Mateo!” followed by the event date, “June 1st”. Gronk also mentioned the ‘One Mission’ Instagram handle @onemissionofficial, encouraging followers to get involved.

Gronk went full cue ball for the ‘One Mission Buzz Off ‘event, showing his dedication to making a difference in children’s lives and supporting pediatric cancer research. One Mission also reposted Gronk’s story on their official page, captioning it “Let’s goooo 💪”. The event’s minimum fundraising requirement is that adults must raise at least $350, while children aged 17 or younger must raise $200. Each participant must meet their goal on their personal fundraising page by 11:59 PM on June 8, 2025.
But this ain’t the first time when Gronk has been a dedicated participant in One Mission Buzz Off for Kids with Cancer. In 2019, he marked his ninth consecutive year participating in this charitable event. He then remarked, “Kids fighting cancer don’t have a choice when they lose their hair. So, I figured I’d join them and show my support.” For Gronk, shaving hair is not a problem. His heart is still as big as ever. Through his foundation, the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation, he donates millions to help kids in need. He built playgrounds and supported military families as well.
While Rob Gronkowski’s new shiny, bald look had everyone talking. But that wasn’t the only thing the four-time Super Bowl champ made news for this week. Just days before, Gronk found himself in the middle of an NFL debate, all thanks to a comment about Travis Kelce.

Rob Gronkowski on comparison with Travis Kelce
On Thursday, Gronk appeared on the Dudes on Dudes with Gronk and Jules. During the show, former Pats WR Edelman tossed the much-asked question to Gronkowski: Are you sick of comparisons with Kelce? And the former TE, with his no-BS approach, believes there is not even a comparison between the two. “It’s not a comparison. I mean, you can compare us, but we’re two different players, to tell you the truth. It all depends on what type of scheme you’re in.” Gronkowski acknowledged the Chiefs’ tight end’s supreme route-running and receiver-like skills, but he highlighted that his own game relied on speed, physicality, and overpowering defenders.
At 35, despite a below-par 2024 season, Travis Kelce decided to run it back for another season. He finished 2024 with 97 catches for 823 yards, leading to questions about whether he was slowing down. His Super Bowl performance against the Eagles only fueled the debate. On the podcast, Gronk and Julian Edelman weighed in on the best tight end of 2024. Where they picked George Kittle. Gronk raved about Kittle’s all-around game, saying he still plays like he’s 22, hard-running, tough to tackle, and dominant as a blocker, like a true leader.

And what was Kelce’s response to it? Was he upset? Not at all. On his New Heights podcast with his brother Jason, Kelce shut down any beef rumors: “Man, it’s all love. Gronk’s one of the best to ever do it. If anything, I’m honored even to be mentioned in the same conversation.” And just like that, any potential “rivalry” was squashed.
This little back-and-forth reignited the never-ending debate on the greatest tight end of all time. Comparing Gronk’s dominance in his prime vs. Kelce’s insane consistency and longevity is like debating Jordan vs. LeBron. At the end of the day, both are legends, and there’s no wrong answer.
