Gronk says Rodgers won't win a Super Bowl with the Jets—agree or just Gronk being Gronk?

Lots of hopes emerge this year! “I wanted to do two good ones (two Super Bowls) to give us a chance to retire a Jet.” Aaron Rodgers said this last month when asked about how he wants to retire from the league. But here’s a twist! The 4-time MVP might not win a Super Bowl this year, as per former Patriots’ star TE, Rob Gronkowski‘s outlook.

In a recent episode of First Things First, on August 9, 2024, Gronk joined the hosts, Nick Wright and Kevin Wildes, to talk about the Patriots and Aaron Rodgers. In the discussion when Gronk was asked about Rodgers’ ambition and chances of winning a Lombardi Trophy this year, the Patriots legendary TE appeared skeptical of the same, commenting, “I see the Jets having success and making the playoffs. I don’t really see a Super Bowl.”

However, Gronk made sure to add that he sees “him [Rodgers] dominating (in the season) that’s for sure, definitely putting up touchdowns and having a great ratio of touchdowns to interceptions.” But for a Super Bowl, Rodgers might not have his time this year too, as per Rob Gronkowski.

In addition to that, Gronk also noted how people are always intrigued by legacy quarterbacks changing teams and how they perform in new environments. Giving examples of Tom Brady and Brett Favre, the 35-year-old said that he too is waiting for this exciting action when Rodgers will play the full season this time if injury doesn’t derail his career again.

Besides that, Gronk also emphasized how Rodgers’ throwing technique is exceptional, comparing it to the precision of firing a gun, with the ball always landing right where it needs to be. Hence, he is waiting for a great comeback of A-Rod this year, after his injury setback. But his latest remarks on Rodgers’ is quite interesting to note, especially when Gronk earlier criticized the one-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback on his lack of ambition.

After all, it’s all about the Super Bowl!

In January 2023, we saw Gronk criticizing Aaron Rodgers on his future plans. During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show in a January episode of last year, then-Packers QB Rodgers was talking about his NFL future. He said, “Do I still think I can play? Of course. Of course. Can I play at a high level? Yeah. The highest. I think I can win MVP again in the right situation. Right situation, is that Green Bay or is that somewhere else? I’m not sure, but I don’t think you should shut down any opportunity.”

It was a good answer, to sum up how A-Rod sees his future. But for Gronk, it just wasn’t the right way. During an appearance on FanDuel TV’s Up & Adams last year, Gronk questioned Rodgers’ thought process. He asked, “I’m totally fine with everything he said except for one major part — and that’s the ‘MVP again. Bro, why are you thinking MVP? Don’t you want Super Bowls?” The 35-year-old also emphasized that “Super Bowls are, I think, five times greater than an MVP award.”

Nevertheless, coming further ahead in his career, Rodgers now seems to have his eyes set on the Super Bowl. But the former Patriots TE appears doubtful of the chances of the QB grabbing another Lombardi trophy. How do you think matters will end up unfolding? Let us know below!
