Travis Kelce's refusal to limit snaps: Heroic dedication or reckless risk for the Chiefs' three-peat?

“I probably wouldn’t have listened to them anyway.” This was Travis Kelce‘s response to reporters asking him if the HC Andy Reid and OC Matt Naggy were looking to limit his regular season snaps. Why? To save the energy in the 34-year-old’s tank for the playoffs as the Chiefs are eyeing for the 3-peat. And Trav’s set to be 35 in October, so it makes sense. But not to him, and also to Rob Gronkowski.

The former Patriots and Bucs Tight End, the ‘Gronk’ backed his fellow TE’s passion on the Up & Adams Show, on 4th September. Rob, who won his last Super Bowl in 2020 at 31 years of age, said, “He’s going out there to be a full-time competitor in the game and he’s not gonna take off snaps.”

Let’s be honest, what else did we expect from a guy who played security blanket to the GOAT Tom Brady? From his own example of grinding on the gridiron for 11 seasons, he noted: “As a competitor, when you’re out there on the field. When you’re committed to the game, you’re not thinking about being on a snap count, especially when you’re healthy. And Travis Kelce is healthy.”

Sure, Rob walked off at 33, and there’s a talk that his future induction into the Hall of Fame is inevitable. But it’s about when you feel is the right time. Every player, their body, reacts to the grind differently. And if Travis is saying ‘NO’ to limiting the snap count, then you know he means business. He just does not want to ride the bench for much of the season and contribute to the team’s success only in the playoffs. He wants to be a ride and die for Patrick Mahomes.

That’s the ‘Kelce’ mentality right there. But that’s not it. Guess the “Lover” in him wants to rock on the gridiron in his mid-30s.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are eager to top their 2023 numbers!

You must have anticipated by now that a Taylor Swift angle is there. And you would not be wrong. Tay-Tay was spotted in attendance in 13 of the Chiefs’ games in the 2023 season. She’d only want to improve her tally in the 2024 season. That means her man, Travis Kelce, would love to put on a show for her and all the spectators. He also wants to improve on his numbers from the last season.

His stats read not so pretty, with 93 receptions for 984 YDs and 5 TDs in 15 games last season. Guess what? 2023 was the first season since 2015 where he failed to hit the 1000-yard mark. But he wants to get over it. “I’m ready to rock. I’ve never been more excited, honestly,” Trav told the reporters from the podium. With the unprecedented 3-peat in sights, plus the newfound romance that makes him feel “So High School”, you can bet Trav is excited. At the same time, Swift indeed is trying to improve on that lucky number ’13’ from last season.

According to a ‘very close’ Insider, per The Sun, the mega popstar does not want to miss Travis’ games for anything in the world. “She can’t wait for the start of the season and attend as many games as she can, starting this Thursday.” So, expect to see her donning the number 87 from the Arrowhead stands, cheering on the #87 on the gridiron against the Ravens.
