

The NFL world is in full shock after learning that one of its most well-known voices has passed away. This legendary figure is none other than CBS’s announcer and broadcaster Greg Gumbel. He was a standout play-by-play announcer and studio host for CBS for a very long time. Moreover, he has given his voice to many notable occasions throughout the history of the game. And Russell Wilson and Julian Edelman, among others, expressed their emotions on the broadcaster’s passing.
Well, everyone got to hear about Greg Gumbel on December 27th. It was sudden news, but the man left a legacy behind after dedicating over 50 years of his life to sports broadcasting. This is truly an incredible feat to accomplish, and this has made him a true legend.

Learning of Gumble’s passing, Julian Edelman took to Instagram Stories to express his sadness. Edelman reposted an IG post of the Patriots and captioned it, “One of the all-time greats #RIP.” The Instagram post he reposted was an incredibly emotional one by the New England team, highlighting how Gumbel was an important broadcaster in many big Patriots moments.

Steelers QB Russell Wilson also reacted to the news. For those who missed it, the QB resorted to Instagram to express his sadness about what transpired. Wilson used a photo of Gumbel and made a lovely remark to thank him for his impeccable game coverage: “Thanks for always covering me and many others! You were always a positive light. Legends live on forever.”
While making the announcement, Greg Gumble’s family revealed the cause of death. It was evident that the legendary 78-year-old CBS reporter had been dealing with cancer for a long time. But his condition deteriorated over the last few weeks and he unfortunately passed away.

Dogg reposted an Instagram reel on Greg Gumbel’s legacy and used it to express his condolences to his family. While the rapper did not utilize a caption or emoji to communicate his emotions. He chose an emotionally charged reel to share on his IG stories. The reel highlights one of the most famous moments, with Gumbel sitting on the commentary table doing what he was well known for.
