Taking to their official X handle, @NFL, they shared the short video clip with an emotional note. This video featured McCaskey’s most lively and impressive moments of her life. “No one witnessed the history of pro football like Virginia Halas McCaskey. Her love for the @ChicagoBears, her family and football will always be remembered. 💙,” they mentioned in their post caption.
Soon after, as the NFL remembered the Bears owner, Virginia, Roger also took to the comment section to pay respectful homage to her. “RIP,” he penned in a heartfelt manner. Undoubtedly, NFL co-founder George Halas’ daughter’s legacy in the football world will be remembered forever.

McCaskey, who served as the Bears owner since Oct. 31, 1983, after her dad’s death, made a significant contribution to lead the Bears to the next level. Even the NFL commissioner couldn’t contain his feelings at the moment, making a heartfelt remark to recognize her genuine leadership and direction. After she took her last breath on February 6 ahead of the Super Bowl, the NFL Commissioner released a statement on Thursday afternoon emphasizing the Chicago Bears matriarch’s contributions to the sport throughout her life.
“The founder of the NFL leaves a legacy of class, dignity, and humanity. Faith, family, and football — in that order — were her north stars and she lived by the simple adage to always ‘do the right thing,” Roger Goodell mentioned. Not only this, he went on to continue adoring her team-leading skills and dedication. “The Bears that her father started meant the world to her and he would be proud of the way she continued the family business with such dedication and passion,” he further added.
Additionally, after her tragic demise, he also sent heartfelt condolences to McCaskey and Halas’ families and fans. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the McCaskey and Halas families and Bears fans around the world,” he further added. McCaskey was instrumental in maintaining the Bears as a family-run organization. Several NFL teams also honored the lifelong football fan.

Through a Twitter post, the Raiders family also expressed their deep condolences for the loss of the Bears‘ principal owner. “The Raiders Family mourns the passing of Virginia Halas McCaskey., owner of the Chicago Bears. Mrs. McCaskey shared her father’s passion for professional football and the Bears organization, carrying on the Halas’s family’s legacy on the city of Chicago and beyond with the pride and dignity. Mrs. McCaskey will be dearly missed by the entire NFL community and the fans everywhere,” they wrote in their post caption.

Additionally, the Giants also sent heartfelt condolences for the passing of Virginia McCaskey. Along with sharing a beautiful smiley snap with her, they also recalled her legacy in the NFL world. “The Giants organization is saddened to hear of the passing of Virginia McCaskey. We join the Bears and the rest of the NFL in celebrating the life of Mrs. McCaskey. She was a woman of great faith who was devoted and passionate in leading the Bears as her father did. And she was a great partner to the rest of us in the league,” they penned in their post caption.
In addition, the Chiefs also expressed their sadness at Virginia’s passing. ” Virginia McCaskey leaves an incredible legacy as a matriarch, football icon, and dear friend. We’ll always remember her fondly, and our heartfelt condolences go out to the McCaskey Family,” they mentioned in their X handle on February 7.

Besides this, the Chargers, Broncos, and Vikings also honored Mrs. McCaskey. Under her ownership, the Bears had clinched the Super Bowl, back in 1986 before Roger Goodell was in the picture. Indeed, her legacy remains a significant part of the Bears history.
