"If there's a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it." These words by Toni Morrison sum up why I got into writing after being an avid reader for most of my childhood. After juggling with words for years, it still comes as a surprise how much there is to write and read. Despite being a software engineer, the will to keep on writing got me involved with poetry and later content creation. 

The additional desire for storytelling and my history of athletics paved the way for EssentiallySports. With the dream to return to my athletic roots and absorb as much knowledge as I can, I am grateful to keep on learning new things every day about various sports.

Despite being more of an off-court reader, the thrill that game coverage instilled within me got me more involved with the NFL. Even though the stories revolving around the NFL are very intriguing, the hype and energy of the games is the literal cherry on top for me. When I am not immersed in NFL gameplays and off-court stories, I am usually lost in writing poems, cooking, and playing with colors.

The last few days were filled with trouble for 49ers [https://www.essentiallysports.com/category/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/]WR Ricky Pearsall. The WR was s— in the chest during a robbery attempt. He was hospitalized because of the severity of the injury. However, some time after his injury, his fans were able to see good, light-hearted news about him. Pearsall’s GF, Tori Moraga, wished him a birthday via an Instagram post saying. “A special Happy Birthday to my heart! Thank you for growing with me and choosing me everyday. You are a force and a bright light that I’m fortunate enough to see shine everyday, and I am so thankful to know you and love you.” and mentioned she is lucky to have him. As she has found a best friend in him with whom she wants to spend her life.

In August 1920, representatives from four states: Akron, Canton, Cleveland, and Dayton, held a meeting and formed the American Professional Football Conference (APFC) to improve footballing standards in the country. A month later, they formed the American Professional Football Association (APFA) and played a league with 14 teams. In 1922, they changed the name to the National Football League (NFL).

In 1960, a new professional league, the American Football League (AFL) started as a competition against the NFL. After six years, in 1966, the two leagues announced a merger that would take effect in 1970. During the four years between the announcement and the actual merger, the leagues started playing a Championship game which was called The Super Bowl. Since then, the two leagues have been recognized as two separate conferences within the same league, the NFL.
