Sitting on the top of the NFC East with 9 wins in a row still isn’t enough for Jalen Hurts to earn the Eagles’ validation. They are still finding ways to criticize their QB, who has played an integral role up to this point. Who knows, without him, the Eagles wouldn’t even have been in this position after 14 weeks of the NFL. Just look at Philly’s record with Hurts starting in the last 3 seasons, 36-9. Insane, right? He boasts a winning percentage of .800, which only calls for praise, unlike the one he is receiving.

So Hurts’ problems lie in his lack of passing attempts and yardage. Over the last nine games, Hurts only had an average of 185.8 yards. His numbers in the last two games are somewhat hysterical, considering the Eagles keep on winning. Throwing for just 226 yards with 5.7 yards per attempt, Hurts ranks dead last among all the other 31 QBs in the league.

But former QB Robert Griffin III squashes all the criticism of Hurts by calling him a winner via Sports RadioWIP. “Jalen Hurts is an RPO QB, and there’s nothing wrong with that…People want him to be a drop-back passer, and that’s not what he is. How many QBs are throwing the ball 45 or 50 times a game and actually winning games? Jalen is a winner.” And that’s not the only opinion he had on anyone trying to throw Hurts under the bus.

RGIII also addressed the feud Hurts probably found himself with AJ Brown after his ‘passing’ comment, “I think Philly fans are having a little PTSD. But this year is not the same. When I hear AJ Brown say passing. I agree. But you are winning games!” Eagles 9 game winning streak saw Hurts complete 68.4% of his passes while throwing 12 TDs and just one interception.

What makes his production more impressive? Hurts’ TD-INT ratio, passer rating (113.7) and yards per attempt (8.7) rank within the top six in the NFL. And while there were rumors of AJ Brown’s disconnect with Hurts, HC Nick Sirianni has downplayed any chances of a feud between the two.

Is Jalen Hurts' winning record enough to silence his critics, or do stats matter more?

When the Eagles’ defensive end, Brandon Graham, came out and said, “I know 1 is trying and 11 could be better with how he responds to things. They were friends, but things have changed.” Well, things haven’t really changed, as Brown later addressed Graham’s comments that were taken out of proportion, “Graham was just being Graham. He’s emotional. In that case, he just mispoke. Me and Jalen are good.”

As for Graham, he also apologized for anything he said about Brown and Hurt’s relationship, “I made a mistake and I assumed that it was something that it wasn’t. I just want to win so bad that I don’t just want to use the media when we need to talk about something and we can fix the problems ourselves. I didn’t add to it in a good light, so that’s my bad.” And finally, Eagles head coach Sirianni was the one that squashed any chances of a feud between the two.

“You guys get to see three hours every Sunday where emotions can play as high as they’re are going to play. I get to see these guys every single day. How they go about their business and interact with each other.” As Graham emphasized, he only wants to win after a brief moment of miscommunication. Hurts also believes the same, “From my vantage point. I put emphasis on the importance of winning and what that is. But also has you grow and as you evolve, the longer you can saturate yourself in something, the more comfortable you can get it in.”

And despite what the Eagles’ fans believe, Hurts is also giving tough competition to other MVPs around the league. The Eagles QB (.703) only ranks behind Patrick Mahomes (.789) and Lamar Jackson (.733) in terms of winning percentage. And the way he is leading the Eagles this season, it’s only a matter of time before they clinch the NFC East title in the coming weeks.
