After a very long time, the topic of discussion at the Jets has changed. It was Aaron Rodgers for too many months, way before the season even began. Now, it’s their ex-coach, Rex Ryan. Ever since the coach has pitched for the job of the Jets head coach, things have changed. But he is also getting support. Here’s what a former NFL player said about him.
Two-time Super Bowl winner, LeSean McCoy appeared on The Herd with Colin Cowherd Show, where he also talked about the situation at the Jets. But his view was different from others. The ex-NFLer claimed that the former HC didn’t force his players to do anything they didn’t want to. But he always held everyone accountable. McCoy cleared his stance and said, “One thing about Rex is he’s not going to do all this. He’s not a pushover.”
He further mentioned that Rex Ryan would also help Rodgers and added, “A guy like Aaron Rogers, he’s (Ryan) not gonna let him just, I want this guy, I want this coach, I might not want to do OTAs. I gotta going to retreat, he ain’t going for all that. He’s going to make everybody accountable and that’s what makes Rex Ryan different a lot of coaches – end hot shot days.” That’s interesting. The Jets need a head coach who could inspire them to win.

A-Rod also needs someone like Rex Ryan who could take off media coverage from the veteran quarterback. For too long, he has been in the news. Be it his fight with Robert Saleh after returning from Egypt in the early off-season and his insistence on bringing Davante Adams. But the conditions are different now. The fans are curious to know if there is a chance he could become the Jets head coach again.

Is Rex Ryan good enough to lead the Jets?
In 6 seasons of his previous stint with the Jets, from 2009 to 2014, he had 46 wins and 50 losses. He later became the Buffalo Bills HC, where he recorded a 15-16 win-loss record. Overall, with 61 wins and 66 losses, he has performed decently.
The former HC presents the best chance of revival to the Jets. In 2010, he was the coach when the Jets last qualified for the playoffs. Since then, they have struggled in every season. However, he would become more effective if he formed a pair with the veteran quarterback.

If Woody Johnson hires Rex Ryan, then Aaron Rodgers’s two-decade experience in the NFL would be a big plus. After missing the 2023 season because of an Achilles injury, A-Rod has been struggling this season as well. In 11 games this year, the Jets have a 3-8 win-loss record. Sitting in the 3rd position in the AFC East, their chances of qualifying for the playoffs are very slim. It’s heartbreaking!
