The Giants slip to 2-7 after the loss to the Washington Commanders in the Sunday Night Football showdown. But the 22-27 loss to the Giants wasn’t that bad, considering the kind of football Daniel Jones has been playing for a while now. But the fact remains that despite Jones throwing for 174 yards and two touchdowns, the Giants remain a bad football team.
Daniel Jones’ performance was an eyesore to watch for the former NFL quarterback, Kurt Benkert, who’s played in the NFL for 5 years. This came when someone on X pointed out that Daniel Jones had two touchdowns in MetLife Stadium in the time that the Chiefs won two Super Bowls. Benkert’s thoughts on this?
“I’d be willing to bet a good chunk of money that I could find a way to force feed Nabers into the end zone straight off the couch by the end of the season @Giants,” the former NFL QB wrote on X. Well, it’s just a lighthearted joke but there’s no way that the Giants will hire a new QB. They let Saquon Barkley go to keep Daniel Jones.

It’s astonishing that people are still grilling Jones over this game. This is because he didn’t throw a pick or take a lot of sacks (just one). Now coming to Malik Nabers, he’s been producing consistently in his rookie year. But this game was underwhelming coming from him. 9 catches over 59 yards aren’t something to be stoked about.
Perhaps Benkert is tired of watching Daniel Jones consistently missing Malik Nabers when the time actually calls for it. So far, Nabers has played 7 games and has amassed 557 yards and 3 touchdowns. What caught people off guard was the fact that he was chit-chatting with his old pal Jayden Daniels after dropping a pass intended for him.
Speaking of Daniel Jones, this season doesn’t look very estranged from the last one for the QB.

Can the Giants ever rise from mediocrity with Daniel Jones at the helm?

What will make Daniel Jones better?
This was 4 straight loss that the Giants have faced. And now, they have lost all hopes of reaching the playoffs. Not that they were from the get-go anyway. Like always, Jones struggled to score. But surprisingly broke an NFL record in the Sunday Night Football game against the Washington Commanders.

As Mike Garofolo pointed out in his post on X, “Via NFL research, #Giants QB Daniel Jones is the first QB since 1991 to have 0 or fewer pass yards and 1+ pass TD in the 1st half of a game with 5+ pass attempts.” That’s really unheard of. What’s even more astonishing is the fact that Daniel Jones hasn’t scored a touchdown in MetLife Stadium in nearly two years.

However, he ended the 672-day drought after his 2-yard passing touchdown to Giants TE Chris Manhertz. With Daniel Jones struggling, the team decided to rush the ball more and the first 20 of their 24 plays were rush attempts. Seems like they are losing faith in Daniel Jones. Something’s got to give for the New York Giants, but Malik Nabers alone can’t cut it.
