30 years! That’s how long it has been since the Cowboys last won a Super Bowl. Yet, fans still call them ‘America’s Team.’ But for what? They haven’t even reached the NFC Championship in three decades. Jerry Jones serves as both the owner and general manager, meaning he makes all the decisions about player acquisitions and departures. However, dissent is growing. Linebacker Micah Parsons is leading the charge, urging Jones to be more aggressive. However, a former NFL player has questioned whether his demand is even feasible.

The hot topic was discussed on the February 14 episode of The Facility show when the retired NFL quarterback, Chase Daniel, decided to do some math and said, “Dak (Prescott) is making 60 million a year. CeeDee (Lamb) is making 34 million a year. Call Micah a 30, okay, that’s $124 million a year between three players, that’s 48% of the projected cap total. They ain’t going to have any money to spend once they pay Micah.” He’s right. But he forgot one thing.

A few days back, the Cowboys director of player personnel, Stephen Jones, claimed that they restructured Prescott’s contract earlier and will do the same thing this year. And coming with years of experience, they can make some space in the salary cap if CeeDee Lamb agrees. But the fundamental question is on the approach.

Jerry Jones has traditionally favored drafting new players instead of signing free agents. That’s how they work. They have kept Dak Prescott as their starting QB despite limited success. A QBR of 45.3 in the 2024 season speaks for itself. Last year, Derrick Henry was available, but Jones didn’t even talk to him once. A change this year looks out of bounds.

Micah Parsons made it more interesting with his comments. During a Make-A-Wish charity event on February 13, the LB said, “I want to see us be aggressive, and I wanna see us get players that’s gonna help us, that’s gonna come in and make an impact. I don’t wanna sit back and just watch other people build and build and build and I (we) stay the same, so we definitely need some call to action.” His demand is fair.

However, will Jerry Jones agree? We will get our answers soon. Is it a ploy by the linebacker?

Micah Parsons might reconsider a contract extension with the Cowboys

There is another underlying issue. Micah Parsons is set to sign his extension with America’s Team. And 2025 is a year of change. Browns DE Myles Garrett and 49ers WR Deebo Samuel have already declared their wish to leave and sign up with new teams. So, Emmanuel Acho also had a similar viewpoint on the linebacker.

While talking about Parsons’s intention behind the statement, Acho said, “Is this a warning shot none of us are talking about? Free agency opens on March 12th. So Micah could easily be saying, look if y’all don’t make these moves, why would I sign here? If y’all don’t make these moves, why would I commit the next five years of my life, my prime?” Well, he is bang on. That is something that will send shockwaves throughout the camp.

The NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year has been a force in their defense. And he has already played 4 years in the league for them. And they didn’t even reach the NFC Championship once. So, is he thinking of a trade?

We have seen Jerry Jones jeopardize contract extensions. Last year, he and CeeDee Lamb got into a tough spot about the money. The receiver held out from the training camp and preseason. And returned only when his extension was signed. So, the fans wouldn’t want that to happen.
