“I have learned that Aaron Rodgers flew back to New Jersey to meet with the Jets about his future. Met with the team’s head coach and the GM only to be told that they want to move on from him.” FOX reporter, Jay Glazer, reported this during the Super Bowl day and no football fans couldn’t miss the update. There have been debates about the Jets quarterback’s departure since he has delivered no great results for the team, the one who is like that frog waiting to be kissed by the right QB for Super Bowl glory. There are other reasons for his potential departure which include the hiring of a new head coach.

According to confirmed reports, the chances of the Jets parting ways with Aaron Rodgers are high. And that hint opens up too many options for a four-time NFL MVP. One of the many options is to follow in the footsteps of NFL veteran Joe Flacco. In fact, NY reporter Connor Hughes revealed this possibility on SportsNite. While discussing the paths Rodgers could have, he said, “I don’t think he wants to go out with these final two years with the Jets being the final memories that teams do have of him playing football. So I’d look at possibly the Rams.” He then explored the chances of Rodgers looking for any opportunity where an organization loses a starting QB midway.

Exploring this scenario, Hughes said, “He could see if some quarterback on a contending team goes down. And then Rodgers steps in and plays for them and helps take a team that had championship hopes, lose their quarterback, and keep those championship hopes alive.” Has such a thing happened in the NFL? Yes, of course! The Cleveland Browns signed Joe Flacco in 2023 after their starting QB, Deshaun Watson, suffered an injury.

Besides this, the Jets QB has multiple options like the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cleveland Browns, the Las Vegas Raiders, the New York Giants, and the New Orleans Saints. But apart from these, there is one more franchise that fans have discussed less- the Seahawks. Seattle would have to decide between Geno Smith and Rodgers if they want the Super Bowl champion.

And you must be thinking what options would the Jets have after A-Rod’s departure? Wanna know what the $330 million QB options the Jets have? Let’s dive in!

The Jets may replace Aaron Rodgers with $330 million QBs

The New York reporter, Connor Hughes, casually emphasized two names that can be the perfect fit for the Jets QB position. Confused about the 330-million-dollar QBs? “So the Jazz are going to have to add someone behind him. Whether they go the trade route and look for someone like Derek Carr or Kirk Cousins, two guys who could also be released.” The reporter said. Kirk Cousins and Derek Carr’s combined contract is 330 million dollars. Both QBs are on the verge of release. Carr also isn’t enjoying the ride with New Orleans. And the Falcons might part ways with Cousins.

Is Aaron Rodgers' time with the Jets a failed experiment, or did he deserve more support?

Well, other than these two, Tyrod Taylor and Jordan Travis are the top two contenders to back it up. An injury ended Travis’s 2024 season. But we can expect his return in the offseason. The only problem the Jets will carry is the dead cap. According to his contract signed with the Jets, Rodgers is due to make $37.5m in the 2025 season. And the Jets will carry a $49,000,000 dead cap charge if they part ways with Aaron Rodgers.

If Aaron Glenn and his colleagues want it to happen, surely, the Jets would move on from Aaron Rodgers. The only catch here is, that they have less time to decide the next QB which is the most important position in the game.
