After the Philadelphia Eagles’ second defeat of the season against the San Francisco 49ers, the Eagles’ head coach appreciates the franchise’s new acquisition. The Eagles after facing a defeat against the 49ers are boasting a record of ten victories and two defeats in the 2023 NFL season. However, even after losing their previous game, in the NFC Conference, the Eagles are still the top contender in the playoff race. 

Moreover, on Monday the Eagles signed 3-time All-Pro linebacker Shaquille Leonard for the rest of the season. Leonard’s inclusion in the team will help the team gain depth in their defense facet, leading them strongly on the road to the Super Bowl victory.

Nick Sirianni Hails Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles’ YouTube channel uploaded a video of the press conference featuring head coach Nick Sirianni. HC admired Leonard’s inclusion in the team and shared how linebackers can help elevate the team’s defense. 

Sharing his views on Leonard’s addition, Sirianni said, “Obviously really excited about that. And we just feel like he adds that depth to our team. That you know with some of the injuries, that we’ve had there, and he had some depth to that team.”. Sirianni further added, “We’re confident in the player we’re getting. We’re confident in the person we’re getting.

However, the Eagles defense failed to stand strong against the 49ers offense. Being tagged as one of the best NFL defenses, the Eagles now have an impact player like Leonard to reclaim themselves.

Eagles’ second defeat of the season

Against the Eagles, the 49ers scored touchdowns on six consecutive possessions. Moreover, the San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy threw for 314 yards and scored four touchdowns against the Eagles. Purdy easily navigated through the defense, which left room for the receivers for the majority part of the game. Adding to the fire of the tough phase, the Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts suffered an injury during the game.

In the third quarter, 49ers LB Oren Burks took a shot at Hurts, leading the quarterback to move to the sidelines for the assessment. Hurts further jogged into the locker room, and returned to the gridiron but couldn’t lead the team to the victory. The game ended with a scoreline of 42-19, with the 49ers being on the victorious side. The Eagles’ next game is against the Dallas Cowboys, where Philly will look forward to reviving themselves.
