The Bengals and the Ravens have started going at it in a nail-biting, high-stakes game. A lot is on the line and the first quarter hasn’t even ended and there is already an injury. This time, the Ravens took the hit, and the hip-drop tackle has taken down another player in a borderline lethal way.
The tight end Mark Andrews took a hit from the Bengals, and it might have been serious. A video from Warren Sharpe shows exactly what went down between Andrews and Logan Wilson early in the game.

It was 1st and 10 on the Ravens’ second down when Mark Andrews caught the pass from Lamar Jackson. He dodged one player who was out to tackle him, but as he started making a run for his money, Logan Wilson pounced at him from behind, held on to Andrews, and pulled him to the ground with him. Andrews took a massive hit and was seen falling on his head and struggling to get up.

Also, Ian Rapoport was quick to report the mishaps. Mark Andrews has been ruled out for the rest of the game. X-rays have come in for Mark Andrews and they indicate that Andrews had an ankle injury when Logan Wilson landed with his full body weight on Mark Andrews’ ankles after his 9-yard gain. Andrews needed crutches to walk to the medical room.

The controversial hip-drop
Added to this, Lamar Jackson has also contracted an injury and was briefly out for the game, but he has returned. Hopefully, he will be able to keep himself afloat for the rest of the game. Contention surrounds the NFL and the Hip-Drop tackle, as banning the play has been in pipelines for a while now. Apparently, NFL executive Jeff Miller made his concerns clear about the controversial moves in a league meeting last month.

This injury to Mark Andrews is why the league wants to eliminate the “hip-drop” tackle. Andrews walked off the field but it could have been much worse.#CINvsBAL pic.twitter.com/mdKpxCzO4f

Even Mike McDaniel is backing the opinion of banning the hip-drop tackle. NFL analysts found out that the hip drop increases the chances of injury up to 25 times. This is the perfect opportunity for the Bengals to pull their pants up and put some pressure on the Ravens. Also, the weather might also have a huge role to play in today’s game as the clouds take over 79% of the stadium.
