The Bills are staring down a crucial offseason, and let’s just say—it’s a make-or-break moment, especially for their offensive line. After shipping off Stefon Diggs last year, they’ve been scrambling to keep Josh Allen’s arsenal stacked. Sure, they had a brief stint with Amari Cooper in mid-season. But with his contract up, Buffalo’s front office is back in the war room, hunting for a game-changer. And looks like they can target Lamar Jackson’s WR this time.

Ravens’ wideout Diontae Johnson just went through a 2024 season he’d probably love to wipe from existence. The Panthers traded him to Ravens and less than a couple of months later, he was waived by the team. But nope, they were not done with him yet. After spending a few days with the Texans, he was claimed by the Ravens again only to become a free agent after their divisional round loss to the Bills.

And that’s where the Buffalo’s front office comes in. You see, the Bills traded for Amari Cooper last year in exchange for a 2025 third-round. But the thing is, after a brief stint with the Bills, Cooper’s hitting the free agency in 2025. Now, the team’s looking for a quality receiver at a steep discount and Johnson can be the answer. Sure, Johnson had the worst season of his career, but the wide receiver was a solid receiving option for the Steelers from 2019 to 2023.

Though some say Johnson wasn’t a superstar in Steel City, others believe he was a reliable player for the team. The 28-year-old wideout had 140+ targets in three of his five seasons with the Steelers while recording the career-best season back in 2021. Johnson started almost every game that he played in the 2021 season and with 107 receptions, he recorded over 1,100 yards with 8 touchdowns.

But let’s not sugarcoat this. After the Steelers traded him to the Panthers, he racked up 357 yards and 3 touchdowns. BUT! Then he was traded to the Ravens and let’s just say there was nothing but the off-field drama between both the sides. The result? Johnson refused to play the game against the Eagles, which the team eventually lost by five points. Later, the team suspended him and he was traded to the Texans.

Though Lamar Jackson’s team picked him up the drama persisted again. He didn’t play the rest of the season and now he’s a free agent. Long story short: Diontae Johnson has talent and there’s no denying that. But Sean McDermott isn’t the kind of head coach who will sign someone who refuses to play.

Josh Allen’s Bills go after a defensive rookie while Lamar Jackson’s Ravens aim for an offensive veteran!

The 2025 NFL draft will kick off on April 2024. And besides their O-line, the Bills desperately need some lockdown defenders to fix a secondary that got absolutely torched last season. Their track record? Finishing second-to-last in PFF’s coverage grade with a brutal 31.8. To flip the tables in the 2025 season, they can draft Jahdae Barron, a cornerback from Texas in the first-round draft pick.

Barron’s profile? The third-highest-graded cornerback (90.7) in the FBS this past season. The Bills already have Christian Benford, who’s establishing his name in the team’s secondary. And adding Barron to the roster would be an instant boost that the team’s looking for after a poor defense this season. After all, they’re looking for a strong D-line in 2025.

On the flip side, Lamar Jackson’s Ravens are looking to fill out their WR spot. Look, picking Johnson multiple times didn’t work out for them. The catch? They didn’t have unlimited options in the free agency this season. However, the buzz is that they can sign veteran Mike Williams who just had a brief stint with the Steelers after playing six seasons for the Chargers.

BUT! A couple of factors can affect this deal. The thing is, Williams was signed by the Jets in the last season and was criticized by the QB for running the wrong route. After playing nine games and recording 12 receptions for 166 yards, he was traded to the Steelers. But nope, changing the team didn’t work out for him.

Williams ended his 2024 season with 21 receptions for 298 yards and a touchdown. Looking at their history of WR drama, the Ravens may need to dig deep to fill the wideout position for Lamar Jackson in the 2025 season. Of course, if they don’t want to go ahead with Williams.
