The Ravens this season peaked at the right time as they ended the regular season with 4 consecutive victories. The 2-time Super Bowl champs played great football this season, ending with a record of 12-5. Their season came to a disappointing end at the divisional playoffs as they lost a close game (25-27) against the Bills on Sunday. This game was particularly bad for Mark Andrews, as he just faltered at crucial moments. And it seems like problems are not yet over for the Ravens TE.
Well recently, Spotrac shared some details about Andrews’ contract on X. They shared, “#Ravens TE Mark Andrews is entering a contract year in 2025, set to earn $11M. He holds $5.9M of dead cap against a $16.9M cap hit. There’s a $4M roster bonus due March 16th.” What a time for such information to come out. Andrews just had a forgetful game against the Bills as while he ended the game with five catches on seven targets for 61 yards, however, his two miscues were the main difference.

Well during this tough time, his teammates have come out and supported him. Following the game, head coach John Harbaugh was the first to support his TE: “The same thing I would say to all the guys like Mark … There’s nobody that has more heart and cares more or fights more than Mark. We wouldn’t be here without Mark Andrews.” Harbaugh also talked about how he is proud of Andrews and how the TE is a tough person and will handle all this well.
Harbaugh wasn’t the only one. Several others supported Andrews. Lamar Jackson said, “I’m just as hurt as Mark. All of us played a factor in that game. It’s a team effort. I’m not going to put that on Mark. He’s been battling all season.” While Isaiah Likely talked about how Andrews is a ‘pro’ and how these things just sometimes happen. RB Derrick Henry also talked about how they were all in this together, while Linderbaum said Andrews was the best TE in the league and how they all have faith in him.

It wasn’t just his teammates though, the Ravens’ fandom pulled through for Andrews, not happy with the idea of him leaving.
Fans don’t want Mark Andrews to leave
As soon as the game against the Bills ended, several people called out Andrews and wanted him gone. However, things seemed to have calmed down a bit. If we go by the reactions to Spotrac’s post, it seems like even after knowing about the $5.9 million dead cap, people don’t want Andrews to leave just yet. One fan suggested an out for Andrews as he wrote, “He should take a pay cut.” Meanwhile, another believed one bad game shouldn’t result in him leaving: “Guy drops one pass and they want to cut him.”

Several other fans believed that despite everything, Andrews is certainly not going anywhere. One person echoed the sentiment writing, “He’s not going anywhere,” while another predicted a solution, stating: “They’ll restructure.” The fans’ sentiment is clear, they don’t want the 29-year-old to leave and clearly believe that he won’t, as one fan confidently stated, “he is not gonna get cut.” The TE has been a part of the Ravens for 7 seasons and has been a mainstay for the team, particularly performing exceptionally well in 2021. It’s great to see the fans supporting a loyal player and backing him even after a poor performance.
It was just exceptional to see so many of Andrews’ fans and teammates come out and back him at this time. Andrews himself must be feeling disappointed after such a game, and it is very important to not dwell on it and look towards the future. The TE had a good 2024 season and helped the Ravens reach this position. His teammates and HC certainly have trust in him and now it is clear that the fans also want the vet TE to stay at the Ravens and help them achieve more success in the coming seasons.
