Bengals‘ Joe Burrow didn’t come close to getting the sweet revenge he wanted. Instead, he had to leave the Ravens game prematurely with wrist pain. With the consecutive losses, the Bengals remain the distant fourth in the AFC North. Ravens’ Lamar Jackson on the other hand, came back from an injury scare to set an all-time NFL record. In a game filled with tackles and brutality, the Ravens QB fulfilled his role as a dual-threat QB.
The scoreline of 34-20 mostly tells the story. The Bengals were thoroughly outplayed in all areas at the game except for the physicality, maybe. That’s because both sides took tolls in an attempt to climb the mountain. But the tale of the day remains Jackson’s unprecedented record, which is set to extend.

It’s no secret that now and then, Lamar Jackson likes to run with the ball. He does it frequently and even had a 152-yard rushing game in 2020. But the Bengals game truly cemented Jackson’s legacy. With his 9 carries for 54 yards, the QB became the first in history to cross the 500 rushing-yard mark in each of his first six seasons. Which of course, can extend to 695 as he takes the field for six more games in the regular season.
The number is good enough to qualify him as an RB in the team as well. However, the QB didn’t forget his primary duty as he racked up a further 16 throws for 264 yards with 2 TDs. His counterpart, Joe Burrow, on the other end, had a subpar performance. He managed only 11 throws for 101 yards with 1 touchdown, one of the lowest outputs in the season. He will want to forget it even more than the first time these two sides met, on September 17. The Bengals settled for a respectable 24-27 final score then.

But amid everything, the roughness displayed at the game was off the charts. Multiple players were injured, both star QBs had to go out and another big name now misses the whole season with a damaged ankle. And there is one single name contributed to all three injuries on the Baltimore side.
Jackson dodges a bullet; Burrow and Mark Andrews not so lucky
The Bengals’ linebacker Logan Wilson became the villain of the day after three of his tackles ended in injuries. For some reason, the visiting LB was in a bad mood at M&T Bank Stadium. His hip-drop tackle in the very first drive of the match sent Bengals TE Mark Andrews out with an ankle injury. Later HC John Harbaugh feared it could be season-ending, which turned out to be true. A few minutes later, Lamar Jackson fell victim to Wilson as he had to walk toward the medical tent. The QB returned a few minutes later.

But Wilson’s job was still not done. He claimed one more Raven later in the game, as WR Odell Beckham Jr. went out holding his shoulder following a Wilson tackle. OBJ missed the entire 2022 season with his ACL problems, and returned only recently. But to the fans’ relief, he later assured that the injury wasn’t much to be concerned about.
The Ravens, although, got their consolation in the second quarter. Other than the game, the 4th placed Bengals also lost Joe Burrow, maybe for a while. The QB left the game with a right wrist pain in the second quarter and was unable to return. The worst fear is that the Bengals will be left out without a comeback hope if Burrow’s injury rules him out for the next few games. Without the quarterback’s service, the dream of making the playoffs for the third time in a row is pretty much over.
