In a captivating 2.5-minute commercial titled “Born to Play,” current NFL stars such as Saquon Barkley, Justin Jefferson, Cameron Jordan, and Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah were depicted racing and leaping through the vibrant streets of Accra.

While the game played out in the imagination of a young boy, the commercial’s narrative led to a tangible destination. The NFL Africa Camp in Accra. Five Ravens players were also featured in the ad. Guess who they are?

Ravens players inspire millions in ads

With a roster boasting several players born in Africa, the Ravens epitomize the ad’s message: “it doesn’t matter where you’re born, if you’re born to play.” Gus Edwards, hailing from Liberia, Nelson Agholor, and David Ojabo, both born in Nigeria, have compelling stories of their journeys to NFL stardom. Edwards’ narrative was detailed in “Cover Story: The American Dream,” showcasing his path from Africa to the pinnacle of American football.

Further enriching the Ravens’ international tapestry are players like Justin Madubuike. He’s a first-generation American with Nigerian roots. Madubuike’s upbringing underscores the value of determination and perseverance. Odafe Oweh, another Nigerian-born talent, contributes to the Ravens’ diverse roster, symbolizing the team’s commitment to global talent acquisition.

However, it was not just Baltimore that was featured in the ad. Several New Orleans Saints players did as well.

Saints join the “Born to Play” bandwagon

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cam Jordan recently took center stage in the NFL’s “Born to Play” campaign, a powerful commercial aired during Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show. Jordan featured prominently in the commercial set in a traditional Ghanaian home. The segment culminated in a stirring speech by two-time Super Bowl champion Osi Umenyiora.

In the commercial, Jordan’s infectious enthusiasm shines as he encourages a young boy portrayed by Eldad Osime with the words, “Bring it little man!” Engaging in playful pursuit through the bustling streets, Jordan’s character exemplifies the thrill and joy of the game. His parting words, “I’ll see you tomorrow Kwesi,” encapsulate the spirit of camaraderie and shared passion for football.
