Diontae Johnson is out! And this decision by the Ravens has shocked the whole NFL world. While this came out of nowhere, hints were there in the previous several weeks. For those who missed it, the Ravens banned Johnson after he declined to play in the Week 13 game against the Eagles. But it didn’t stop there; tensions continued to rise in week 14 and in week 15, too. Ultimately, this decision was taken. However, it appears that the WR can be in a lot of demand in the market. Wait, does this indicate he has offers from other teams?

Well, kind of. On December 21st, the Ravens opted to waive Diontae Johnson, and he will be placed on the waiver list by Monday. While it is controversial that the release have taken place after the suspension. NFL insider Ian Rapoport has disclosed that big teams are interested in Diontae Johnson.

Once the WR is on the waiver list as a free agent, teams such as the Chiefs and the Chargers can be interested in him. Not only that, but the WR’s previous team, the Steelers, who traded him to the Ravens, may also be interested in signing him again. According to the sources, the teams can engage in a bidding war or a better contract war.

Rapoport stated, “I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he ended up getting claimed. A couple of teams to watch for are the Chargers who have not John Harbaugh but Jim Harbaugh, the Chiefs, and maybe his old team the Pittsburgh Steelers as well.”

So far, the WR has not been having a good year. On top of the Week 13 fiasco, his performance didn’t justify the headache. In four games, he had just one catch for six yards—barely contributing to a team that’s trying to make a serious playoff push. It’s disappointing, especially considering how well he started the year with the Panthers, racking up over 350 yards and three touchdowns in seven games. But in Baltimore, it just never clicked. Even a reunion with the Steelers could be mutually beneficial. Johnson had some of his best years in Pittsburgh, including a Pro Bowl season in 2021, and he already knows the system and coaching staff.

While there is still suspicion that a team will select the WR, some analysts appear to be thinking the opposite. They believe that this release will be the 28-year-old superstar’s downfall.

Have an interesting take?

Will Diontae Johnson’s short stint with the Baltimore Ravens lead to his career downfall?

For the time being, nothing can be said about it. In short, anything might happen since many analysts are perplexed by his present NFL standing. While Rapoport has stated that he will be selected again, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler disagrees. Fowler has stated that Johnson’s release will cost him millions of dollars, not just this year but also in the future.

The reporter thinks that the Ravens’ short term can ruin the image of Diontae Johnson. The other teams can think of him as a player who does not listen to the management. His tweet read, “No other way around it: Diontae Johnson lit millions on fire. Was set to be a top-25 free agent before the issues in Baltimore.”

Nothing has been fixed up to this point, and everything is up in the air. Diontae’s fans would hope that Fowler’s report does not come true and another team will give the WR a chance. Only time will tell if it happens, so let’s see how this drama unfolds.
