When Lamar Jackson inked his hefty contract back in 2023, he was sitting pretty among the NFL’s top-paid quarterbacks. But fast forward a bit, and here comes Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills with his monster $330 million (with a sweet $250 million guaranteed) extension, making Lamar’s contract look… well, not so shiny anymore. It’s like when your buddy gets the latest gadget, and your once-coveted tech feels a bit outdated.

But if you’re thinking that the Ravens haven’t paid any attention to Jackson’s contract—well, it’s time to give yourselves another shot. Sure, the Ravens’ QB’s contract is through 2027, but it looks like Baltimore is finally ready to extend his contract. Nope, we aren’t making that up. Let’s cut to the chase: if the reports are true, the Ravens have had early extension talks with Lamar.

To make this even more interesting, the NFL Spotlight host, Ari Meiro, reported on his official ‘X’ handle that the Ravens’ head coach, John Harbaugh, believes that Jackson will become the highest-paid QB in NFL history once the deal is done. During Monday’s NFL owners’ meetings in Florida, Harbaugh mentioned that there have been “internal discussions” about a new deal with Jackson.

Well, let’s just say that the QB’s extension is on the cards, considering the Ravens are making their offseason moves. First, they agreed on a three-year $60 million deal with their offensive tackle, Ronnie Stanley Jr. On top of that, they also have a fifth-year option on Safety Kyle Hamilton and Center Tyler Linderbaum.

As for Jackson, the guy signed a five-year contract extension worth $260 million with $185 million guaranteed. Of which, he received $135 million fully guaranteed while putting pen to paper on that massive contract extension. Fast forward to now, and Jackson will have a cap of over $70 million for the 2026 season. That means if the Ravens extend his contract, the two-time MVP is surely going to be the highest-paid player in the NFL.

For the time being, Jackson is the ninth-highest paid QB in the NFL—thanks to Josh Allen’s monstrous six-year contract extension. While the team hasn’t officially confirmed Lamar’s extension, it looks like his demand will soon be fulfilled.

Lamar Jackson demanded a contract extension

This offseason, we’ve seen some gigantic contract extensions. And we aren’t even talking about the quarterbacks, folks. On one side, the Browns offered a massive four-year contract for $160 million to Myles Garrett despite the edge rusher requesting a trade. On the other side, we’re hearing Micah Parsons seeking a $200 million contract from the Cowboys. But what about Lamar Jackson?

Well, it seems the QB was already eager not just for his contract extension but for his supporting cast as well. A little less than three weeks ago, ML Football tweeted a clip of Jackson enjoying some pizza with the caption, “Baltimore #Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is test-tasting PIZZIA while the rest of the world is stressing out about free agency.” The kicker?

Jackson hopped onto his official ‘X’ handle, re-shared that clip, and confessed that the video was from last year while dropping a message for the front office“This was Last yr…… lol I’m waiting like everyone else,” he wrote in his post. Now let’s be real—the Ravens have Jackson signed through 2027. The contract extension might not be on the cards anytime soon.

Sure, the HC has mentioned that Jackson and the team are in early talks for a contract. But considering their salary cap situation, we can expect a contract restructure. See it this way: Jackson is carrying a cap hit of $43.65M in 2025, which will soar to a massive $74.65M in 2026 and 2027.

That means if the front office considers restructuring his contract, the salary cap would surely drop. There you go. The team would have enough cap space to build a supporting cast for Jackson. At the end of the day, there’s still a lot to unfold in Lamar Jackson’s upcoming contract. Do let us know your views.
