Ahem! The words said on air can reach the masses, especially when you are a pro football player podcasting. But more so, it was about his week 2 performance that did not sit well with fans.

Humphrey racked up 10 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a pass defended. But those stats? Hard to celebrate when the Ravens’ defense crumbled, blowing a 10-point lead in the 4th quarter. The Raiders didn’t even need to “raid” anything—they were practically handed the win. Call it a housewarming gift, though Ravens fans weren’t exactly thrilled with the generosity.

Naturally, Humphrey became the target of fan frustration. And let’s be honest, without those podcast comments, he wouldn’t have grabbed so much attention. Funny enough, though, he wasn’t throwing shade at Patrick Mahomes at all! Quite the opposite, actually.

Reflecting on the game, Humphrey gave credit to Mahomes and the Chiefs, saying, “It’s hard to beat the Chiefs… Mahomes does some pretty wild stuff.” But then came the quirky line—Mahomes, apparently, is a “chubby fast dude.” Humphrey questioned how is he beating players on the gridiron with that pace.

If you’re wondering where this came from, it might be linked to that viral shirtless photo of Mahomes earlier this year. The internet had a field day with it, and Mahomes himself even joked about it on X, saying, “Why they have to do me like that!?!?!? #DadBodSZN.” Gotta love a QB who can laugh at himself, right?

But the truth is that Chubby fast dude is 2-0 in the 2024 season and the Ravens are back to the drawing board with a 0-2 start. Mind you, this was supposed to be the championship season for the Purple Pain. As for Marlon Humphrey, hope he takes the positives out of fans’ comments and turns it around in week 3.
