A dream that Derrick Henry had – to take over Texas. Imagine settling into a place that feels just right – with familiar faces, the right atmosphere, and seemingly an ideal future. The setup was perfect. His girlfriend’s family was also just around the corner, and the Cowboys? Icing on the cake.

Except his dream just shattered in front of his eyes before it came true. Because the Cowboys never called him. Henry had high hopes that he would be donning the silver and blue, but the Cowboys weren’t interested in buying what he was selling. And since that didn’t plan out as intended, Henry had to offload his property in Dallas due to financial losses.

Initially, the Dallas mansion with 20-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows at Inwood Park home was priced at $1.8 million last year. Instead, Henry had to settle for $1.6 million after taking it off the market and changing real estate agents. That’s a six-figure hit – and would have stung. Henry initially bought the place because his girlfriend Adrianna Rivas is from the area and lives with their children there.

Derrick Henry’s mansion was a true beauty in itself – with four bedrooms, a three-car garage, a chef’s kitchen, a fireplace, customised walk-in closets, and a turf backyard. And to top that up, ultra-luxurious marble floors and rich hardwood touches. But Henry bought the house because he had expectations of playing for the Dallas but that isn’t happening now, is it?

No call, big costs: Derrick Henry’s financial hit in Texas

The financial loss that Henry faced wasn’t just about a couple of hundred thousand dollars – it was more like investing in a dream. He admitted the same on The Pivot podcast himself, that he had his eyes set on the Cowboys. But he said the team wasn’t paying attention to him, “ain’t holla at me at all.”

What’s your perspective on:

Did the Cowboys miss out on a gem by not signing Derrick Henry? What do you think?

The Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons also shared his views on the same, saying Henry was “exactly where he was supposed to be” in Baltimore, adding that at least the Cowboys didn’t ruin him. Comforting? Maybe. Still, a brutal reminder that the Cowboys never even picked up the phone? Definitely. And Derrick Henry also took a dramatic toll on the same. He joked that Jerry Jones almost has him blocked, “I couldn’t even call Jerry!” he said.

Now, Henry is all-in with the Ravens, where he’s already made an impact, rushing for over 1,900 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2024. But his real estate saga proves one thing: Just because you plan on making a city your home doesn’t mean the hometown team will roll out the welcome mat.

At least Henry still has his Nashville sale, which brought in $3.1 million. So yeah, this whole Dallas situation might have been a loss, but don’t worry—Derrick Henry isn’t exactly struggling to keep the lights on. Meanwhile, his blocked calls to Jerry? Probably still going straight to voicemail.
