The Chicago Bears are off to the worst start possible to their 3rd week clash against the Colts in Indianapolis. As things stand, the Bears are down 7-0, with the second quarter coming to an end in a few minutes. While the team is performing poorly, 5x Pro Bowler Richard Sherman has latched onto rookie Caleb Williams’ horror start to the game.
Taking to his X, Sherman posted, “The game is moving too fast right now for Caleb Williams. Even when he’s getting the time, the defense is ahead of him. Easy reads for a DB when the QB is rattled.” Although we don’t know whether Williams will continue performing the way he has been from the start. His capabilities as a rookie QB have been to sword from the beginning of this season.

Playing his 3rd game at the top of pro football, Williams has performed below the expectations of many. His two starts for the Bears have led to him getting sacked a whopping nine times, which is higher than any signal callers this season. Well, this is a brutal start for a rookie as he tries to prove a point for himself.
But it isn’t the only stat that downplays Williams’ ability to lead the Bears. Considering the two games he started for Chicago, Williams has only completed 56.1 percent of his passes. Having notched up 267 yards, zero TDs and two interceptions, this isn’t the number Chicago was looking at after they made him the No.1 overall draft pick this year.
Those numbers eventually led to Williams trying out something new going into his 3rd-week clash against the Colts. As he wears a wristband for the first time in his NFL career.
Caleb Williams leads the Bears with a wristband against the Colts

Seeing the 22-year-old wear a wristband, NFL insider Rapoport stated, “faster and cleaner operation,” pointing towards the plays Williams is going to call from now on. But Stacey Dales of NFL network added, “He’s worn a band, but I’m told the calls will work through/off the wristband. The goal is to speed up the operation so he has more time at the line of scrimmage.” Well, this would make the life of the rookie a little easier, considering the troubles he has faced in his first two games of the season.
It would have allowed him to get in and out of the huddle faster while finding players who are open to take a pass. Even offensive coordinator Shane Waldron spoke highly about this decision, “Having good variety, having a good mix of what we’re asking him to do in different known passing situations right there.”

But seeing Williams start against the Colts, it doesn’t seem like the wristband is working for the 22-year-old. As the Bears continue to struggle in Indianapolis after going 7-0 down in the first half.
