The distressing turn of events unfolded on the North Central Expressway in northeast Dallas around 6:20 p.m. The Dallas police have pieced together a narrative that suggests the accident was the unfortunate climax of a high-speed race between two luxury vehicles – a Corvette and a Lamborghini.
This adrenaline-fueled race reportedly spiraled out of control, triggering a domino effect that entangled six vehicles in the chaos, as reported by Dallas News. The accident culminated in four individuals sustaining minor injuries. While two received on-site medical attention, the other two were sent to the hospital.
Rice fled from the scene of the accident
The Lamborghini “hit the center median wall, causing a chain reaction collision involving four other vehicles,” detailed Dallas Morning News’ Lowman. A police call sheet, as per the Dallas Morning News, identifies 23-year-old Rice as the alleged Corvette driver. Both drivers allegedly made a hasty retreat from the scene, abandoning the wreckage and the injured, as conveyed by Dallas police spokeswoman Kristin Lowman.

The newly crowned Super Bowl champ grew up in North Richland Hills outside of Fort Worth. He later played four years at SMU before he was selected by the Chiefs in the second round (55th overall) of last year’s NFL draft. In his rookie season, Rice had 79 receptions for 938 yards, tallying a team-leading seven touchdown catches across 16 game appearances, including eight starts.
He was Kansas City’s top wideout option last season, coming in second on the team in receptions and receiving yards behind star tight end Travis Kelce. In the Chiefs’ four-game postseason run to win their second straight Super Bowl title and their third in the last five seasons, Rice had 26 catches for 262 yards and a touchdown. Rice had six catches for 39 yards in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl 2024 win over the 49ers.
