The NFL offseason is going as interesting as the on-season. Every team’s coaching carousel is turning heads. But nothing compares to Jerry Jones going around interviewing all kinds of big shots before promoting Brian Schottenheimer. But wait, how can we forget Liam Coen ditching the Bucs and getting on a flight to Florida to be Jacksonville’s head coach? You have to give it to Shad Khan. That man played Vito Corleone for real, making Liam an offer he couldn’t refuse. And now Liam is working hard to make the Jaguars the team that’s not just competitive but downright dangerous. One of Jordan Love’s teammates had some thoughts on that. The Jaguars’ locker room might want to pay attention to what Love’s teammate has to say.
Enter Anthony Campanile, the former Packers linebackers coach and running game coordinator. Yes, former – because he’s now the Jaguars’ defensive coordinator. As he packs his bags and heads to Jacksonville, one of Jordan Love‘s teammates has some cautionary words for the Jaguars. Green Bay DT Rashan Gary said, “Yeah, me and Cam go way back. He used to recruit me back in his Rutgers days, so being able to play with him last year and, you know, being able to rekindle that relationship was great.“

But that’s not what should concern the Jaguars’ locker room. Here’s what they really might want to listen up for: “It brings a lot of energy, and the number one thing, man, he holds people accountable.” And it’s not just about accountability – Coach Campanile is all about bringing out the best in you on the gridiron. “He wants the best for you, so you go to him, you tell him your goals, your aspirations, and he’s gonna make sure every day as you wake up, put your face in that playbook, and put your feet on that turf, you’re doing what you’ve got to do to get there,” added Gary.
So, all in all, this is great news for the Jaguars, who’ve been struggling in every direction this year, scraping together only four wins.
Anthony Campanile to work under Liam Coen
The Jaguars’ defense has been struggling since 2018. And it’s like the hitting-rock-bottom-numbers-every-year kind of struggling. So, now, with Anthony’s arrival, things might change for them for good. Campanile’s resume boasts both college and NFL coaching experience. He was the Dolphins‘ linebackers coach for four years before joining the Packers in 2024. And now, after just one season, Anthony has parted ways with Green Bay to become the Jaguars’ defensive coordinator.

The Jaguars’ head coach, Liam Coen, has some high praise for the new defensive coordinator. “Anthony Campanile represents exactly what we want to be as a defensive unit and football team. He brings an aggressive defensive mindset and a system that is adaptable to our players and allows them to play fast and physical,” said Coen.
But Campanile leaving the Packers is going to sting. Under him, the team allowed the seventh-fewest rushing yards per game (99.4) which is no small achievement. His departure leaves a void that’s another headache for the team until they find someone as good as Anthony. The Jaguars, under their new HC, are on their way to building a team that can make a comeback this season. And with Campanile now leading their defense, there’s a real sense that Jacksonville might finally be turning a corner. If everything clicks, this could be the start of something special for a team that’s been stuck in the shadows for way too long.
