Puka Nacua‘s been turning heads lately. He stepped up big when the team needed someone to fill the gap, and man, he delivered. He established himself as one of the best young receivers in the league after just one season. Then he backed it up—79-reception, 990-yard season in just 11 games, thereby becoming the 33rd best player in the league in the 2024 season. And now, this new season, he is about to take a bigger role in the Los Angeles Rams’ offense. But while Nacua is rising, his older brother Samson isn’t having his good time in the football world.
Puka Nacua’s brother, Samson Nacua, is the Michigan Panthers receiver. And on Saturday, the athlete’s team was facing the St. Louis Battlehawks. However, the matchup didn’t end well, at least as per Nacua’s expectations. Hence, the 27-year-old expressed his frustration at a fan of the opposite team.
The viral video captured Nacua slapping a fan, who was leaning over a railing and exchanging words with the wide receiver. As a result of this, the UFL has suspended Samson for one game. This suspension will be without pay, and it will ultimately cost him around $6,200.

The Michigan is scheduled to play next against the DC Defenders on Sunday in Washington, D.C. And Nacua would be missing it. According to UFL, “As part of the suspension, Nacua has agreed to participate in community service events to be arranged by the league, which will be determined later this season.” After four years grinding at Utah, Samson made the move to BYU for his final season-linking up with his brother
Puka for one last chance at something special. It was emotional, it was real. But when draft day came, his name never got called. Still, he didn’t quit. Samson signed with the Indianapolis Colts, then the New Orleans Saints, trying to prove he belonged.
However, neither option stuck. He didn’t make it to the final roster spot of these teams, and hence, the tough reality check in a league is that it doesn’t wait. And now, as UFL has also decided to ban him for a game, his glorious football future has fallen a bit more.

Police investigation on Puka Nacua’s brother, Samson?
A video surfaced from The Dome at America’s Center, showing a tense moment. A fan leaned over the front row, exchanging words with Puka Nacua’s brother, Samson Nacua. Things quickly escalated when Nacua pointed at the fan and slapped him across the face. After the slap, Nacua walked away, leaving the fan seemingly uninjured. But it didn’t stop there.
Panthers cornerback Adonis Alexander jumped in, pointing and laughing at the fan, clearly enjoying the moment. At last, stadium security had to step in, pulling Alexander away. Battlehawks coach Anthony Becht marked this incident too, and gave his point of view on the incident. He said, “You cannot do that. You cannot let someone egg you to the point that happens. As a professional athlete, you’ve got to have composure and not let that affect you. It’s a no-no for professional athletes.”

Nevertheless, this incident has involved St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, too, which claims to investigate the incident. One police spokesperson added, “We are working to obtain video from The Dome at America’s Center that may have captured what led up to the encounter.” On the other hand, Michigan’s coach, Mike Nolan, tried to save his player, as he quipped, “You want to have the full story on what happened. We did it the wrong way in retaliating, and Samson knows that you don’t retaliate.” No changing the past—what’s done is done.
