Can the Raiders thrive without Davante Adams, or is his absence a blow they can't recover from?

We’re just days away from finding out where Davante Adams will land next, and wow, what a ride it’s been in Las Vegas! The Raiders treated him well, even if the contract talks were a bit of a rollercoaster. And now the team’s star LB has made it clear that the boys are ready to move on and focus on the future with the “Next man up, mentality.”

While chatting on SiriusXM NFL Radio, Robert Spillane nailed it when asked how the Raiders plan to tune out the noise. He said, “We wish Davante the best. At the end of the day, the focus of our guys is to show up every day. Come into practice willing to work and wanting to do whatever it takes to somehow get a victory this weekend.” Sounds like the team’s got its eyes on the prize!

But Robert did not stop there. He took to the guys stepping in to replace Davante, saying, “We expect the guys replacing Davante to step up with big-time plays this weekend.” That’s not the hope anymore. It’s what they have to do if they are to stay rolling.

Speaking of rolling, Spillane has been a beast for the Raiders’ defense so far. He’s racked up double-digit tackles in every game so far—talk about bringing the heat! It’s a solid reflection of the hard work and preparation Coach Graham has been preaching with that defense. But the test is about to get bigger. No time to rest!

This Sunday, the Raiders (2-2) will travel to Denver to compete against their AFC West rival Broncos (2-2). It’s always a thriller. And you know the trenches will decide the game. Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew II knows what’s at stake, saying, “Man, they’ve been great this year. Super disciplined. Coach [Vance] Joseph does a great job.”

On the flip side, Raiders OC Luke Getsy echoed the challenges posed by the Broncos’ D. “I mean, what are they second in the league in sacks or first? It starts there,” he said. But isn’t the Broncos’ physicality a known factor, now? They thrive on creating pressure. But the question of concern? The lack of IT factor in that receiver corps.

With Davante Adams a goner and Tyreik McAllister‘s availability in question, the Silver and Black are in a pickle. One that has forced Antonio Pierce to put on his thinking glasses.

Antonio Pierce’s next focus is the Broncos, not Davante Adams’ trade!

Nonetheless, you can rest assured that Pierce is not wasting his energy thinking about Davante Adams. Sure, with the rumors swirling, you’d think it’d be a distraction, right? But Las Vegas’ HC is having none of it. When asked about the trade chatter, he straight-up dodged it, saying, “Because it starts with me, because that’s my only focus.”

What’s on his mind? Preparing for this weekend’s showdown with the Denver Broncos, and honestly, that’s exactly where his focus needs to be. Pierce knows how to handle adversity, saying, “I get paid here to get ready each and every week for the opponent.” It’s almost like he’s channeling his inner LB from back in the day—calm under pressure and ready to make the right call.

But Pierce must steer the ship in the right direction, especially after that embarrassing home opener against the Panthers. Sure, there was a little drama with the players and fans. But let’s be real, that’s part of the game. Pierce learned from his past slip-ups and got the team back on track with a win over the Browns—even without Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby!

Now, he must do the same. Although the latest NCAA show cause is another nail in the coffin of distractions, Pierce must keep his boys’ morale high. After all, with the NFL, it’s about winning and keeping the locker room in sync.
