Raiders' Kermit the Frog jab at Mahomes—brilliant mind games or just childish antics?

Patrick Mahomes might be well on his way to reach a GOAT status but that doesn’t stop his rivals to take shots at him. In this case, his rivals are the Kansas City Chiefs’ sworn enemies, the Las Vegas Raiders. Earlier, it used to be Maxx Crosby who bullied Mahomes on the field. Now the Raiders are using props to spice things up a bit.

Who does Mahomes remind you of? Kermit the Frog? Admit it, it’s funny. “It’s something that I have kind of embraced,” said Mahomes as he got ready for the Super Bowl, addressing the comparisons of his voice to that of the TV character. To troll the QB like this might be one of Antonio Pierce’s “Patrick Mahomes Rules.” However, what Raiders’ DB Trey Taylor did recently might force Mahomes to deliver an “ass whooping.”

A video recently surfaced on X showing the Raiders DB turning the heat up on the Chiefs’ and Raiders rivalry. Apparently, some fans brought a Kermit the Frog puppet that had curly hair on it and gave it to Trey Taylor. He channeled his inner puppeteer, and he understood the task. The DB might have done it too well in this case.

The Kermit puppet had a no. 15 jersey on, so it was immediately confirmed that these were shots at Patrick Mahomes. Anyway, Taylor picked up the puppet and started talking trash. People around Trey started chanting “I’m here, I’m here,” trolling Mahomes for his viral moment with Maxx Crosby from a game back in 2022 when the Chiefs upset the Raiders 30-29.

Trey Taylor added more to the fire when he started puppeteering and the words “I’m a b**ch” came out of Kermit’s mouth. Just a couple of hours ago, Mahomes’ trainer Bobby Stroupe took to X and retaliated, saying, “We will remember.” NFL veterans and analysts now predict that Mahomes will be back with revenge. RGIII was one of those people.

Griffin took to X and wrote, “The man [Mahomes] is 10-2 against the Raiders, Chiefs have won 8 straight AFC West titles and they just guaranteed themselves an ass whopping they won’t forget.” However, we shouldn’t forget that the Raiders were the last team to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2023 season. That too on Christmas!

Have an interesting take?

It’s safe to say that the Chiefs and Raiders absolutely hate each other and Antonio Pierce, the Raiders HC, even had to make up “Patrick Mahomes Rules” to Knock off the head of the snake.

Antonio Pierce gets inspiration from Michael Jordan to beat Patrick Mahomes

The Raiders HC threw caution to the wind and basically declared that he would not miss a chance to bully Mahomes publicly. Back in the 80s, the only thing that stood between Michael Jordan and a championship game was the Detroit Pistons, who used to get physical with him to not let him score. Pierce has a similar strategy in mind for the 3x Super Bowl winner.

“We’ve got the Jordan Rules and we’ve got what I’m calling now as long as I’m here, the Patrick Mahomes Rules,” Pierce said. “So you remember when (Michael) Jordan was going through it with the Pistons, all those guys in the ’80s before he became Air Jordan, the Pistons used to whip his (butt).”

Pierce later clarified that “Any time he [Jordan] came to the hole: elbows, feeling him, love taps, we touched him. We’re in his head, mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually. I’m touching you. So I showed my guys Jordan getting his (tail) whooped, consistently.”

This drew a lot of criticism from analysts throughout the sports universe and they were sure that it will be a flag festival if any such thing were to happen to Mahomes. Maxx Crosby and Mahomes still have bad blood, and it was clear when the two were bumping helmets and shouting at each other last year.

If you’re still not convinced that the Raiders “hate” the Chiefs, then check out what Antonio Pierce had to say. “Maxx knows exactly how we built up that week, how I was building up that week to hate the color red. We saw red, we hate red. It was on that kind of level. There’s a difference between dislike and hatred. There’s a hatred for the Chiefs.”

Also, if you think the magnitude of things isn’t huge, think again. The Chiefs used the Raiders locker room during the last Super Bowl, and the Black and Silver team didn’t like it at all. Pierce took it as motivation to teach Chiefs a lesson in the future. Despite all of it, Mahomes doesn’t take Kermit allegations seriously. In fact, he might even patent his raspy voice.

“People make fun of my voice for my entire life. I’ve got news about it. It’s like the joke that keeps giving,” he said at the time. “I’ve heard it all. I’ve heard of Kermit the Frog. I’ve heard the smoking cigarettes, whatever it is, but it’s unique, so maybe I’ll get a deal from that for having that unique voice.” However, an “ass whooping” seems to be imminent in the future.
