Recently, Jason Kelce divulged the details about his last fight with his brother, Travis Kelce. In a conversation with Shaquille O’Neal, the older Kelce brother revealed the competitiveness shared between him and the Kansas City tight end during their early high school years. He elaborated on how an innocent basketball game in the backyard led to a “stupid little” brawl. One that could only be stopped because of their father’s interference.

The Philadelphia Eagles center went on The Big Podcast with Shaq and shared a story about his sibling rivalry. The NBA legend asked a question about competitiveness between the Kelce brothers, giving himself and his brother as examples. Kelce immediately related to Shaq’s train of thought and went on to describe the time he had punched his brother in the face, the second and the last time ever to do so.

The older Kelce brother explained that as a junior in high school, he was used to being the “bigger one” and winning the most competitions. Then in came freshman Travis, who was taller and more athletic. Moreover, the younger Kelce had just hit puberty and, in Shaq’s words, “was feeling it.” This pissed Jason off, and the teenage rivalry ultimately ended with a showdown during a game of basketball.

Kelce revealed that during a game in the backyard, Travis landed the hoop repeatedly with a shot over his shoulder. Unable to stop him, the frustrated older Kelce started fouling deliberately. As expected, Travis didn’t like being fouled and called out his brother, “That’s bull****, that’s a foul.”

Jason Kelce had a retort of his own, ”I don’t see any refs out here. I don’t see anybody calling it.” Fed up with the tiff, Travis flung the ball at Jason and stormed inside the house. But Kelce wasn’t ready to let go and was pretty “heated up” and followed his brother inside. Next, he explained the beginning of the altercation.

“I grab him on the shoulder, and I punch him and… listen, we would fight all the time. This is the only… twice, the second time I ever punched him.” But what was Travis’s reply?

Travis Kelce reacted to the punch with a slam

Jason Kelce said that while he expected the younger Kelce to cry, as in the past, this time, Travis was in the mood for revenge. The Chiefs’ tight end picked his older brother off his feet, crashing him onto the ground. The intensity of the crash was enough to knock the oven off the rack.

Jason said, “[Travis] took this punch, scooped me off my feet, and slammed me on the kitchen floor so hard that the oven got knocked off the rack. Like what it was sitting on the tracks.”

The Kelce brothers were in a full-blown brawl at this point, flinging fists at each other. It was only when their father intervened and tried pulling Jason off, in fear of hurting the senior Kelce. He also pointed out that they never fought after this fist fight incident.

“Dad comes behind me to break it up, grabs me. Travis pushes me back on top of dad, and the only thing that stopped the fight was my dad screaming, ”Oh my ribs.’ So we thought that we had hurt him so we snapped out of it.”

Listening to this incident from the teenage years of the Kelce brothers, Shaq could relate to the sibling dynamic, and said that it was sharing moments like these with his own brother “that’s made me who I am.” We couldn’t agree more with the former NBA player, and the bond between Travis and Jason Kelce today is a testament to it.
