In just his first year with the Washington Commanders, QB Jayden Daniels led his team to an 11-5 record. With just one game remaining on the schedule, he is heading to his first Pro Bowl. He is joined by wide receiver Terry McLaurin on the NFC Pro Bowl roster. And so, if you still don’t know much about QB Daniels, don’t worry—you’re about to. After the 2024 season, it’d be impossible not to. The rookie didn’t just adapt to the NFL; he stormed the gates and made it his playground. He is dodging defenders like a pro and connecting plays with the precision of a seasoned vet (not too soon, but you get the vibe).

The #5 doesn’t need to flex! His numbers do that for him and his rookie resume reads like a veteran’s dream. He has completed 69.4% of his passes for 3,530 yards, tossed 25 touchdowns, and rushed for 864 yards with six TDs. Along the way, he broke Robert Griffin III’s rookie QB rushing record and set the NFL Rookie of the Week award mark. It’s not a shocker that he is the favorite for Offensive Rookie of the Year. His skills even surprised Donald Trump!

On Wednesday, when he was asked what it would mean to make it to the Pro Bowl, he stated: “I don’t know. It would be a blessing. It’s not really something that I really looked too into like, ‘Oh, I want to be a pro bowler,’ stuff like that. But if I’m announced one, it’ll be a blessing, if not, try again next year.”

So when the Commanders posted, “5 and 17 are Pro Bowl bound,” he responded with his own flair. He re-shared the post on his IG stories and simply wrote, “Blessings”.

He knows it’s his hard work, but also his peers’ prayers that have done magic for him. No chest-thumping. Just gratitude. But honestly, is it even surprising? The Daniels-McLaurin duo has been torching defenses like a Madden cheat code, turning routine plays into highlight gold.

As for McLaurin, it’s his second Pro Bowl. Plus, it’s well-earned, too, with 74 receptions, 1,034 yards, and a career-high 12 touchdowns. His 12 touchdowns are tied for second in the NFL and first in the NFC. But, most importantly, it’s also about how well he has done in complementing Daniels.

I mean, he has been the perfect weapon for the rookie. Some might say, elevating Daniels’ game. Meanwhile, how much of it is the truth? That’s for you to decide! But let me tell you, Donald Trump has called his shots on his favorite pick.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Jayden Daniels the next NFL legend, or is it too soon to crown him?

No home gridiron for Jayden Daniels to cook on?

So, picture this: Mayor Muriel Bowser stepped up to talk about her meeting with then-President-Elect Donald Trump. The room was expecting chatter about politics, maybe a stadium deal or two. Instead, Trump surprised everyone by pivoting to Jayden Daniels. Yep, Washington’s rookie QB got name-dropped.

After her meeting with the president-elect earlier this week, Bowser shared, “He [Trump] was well aware of Jayden Daniels and why he should be the rookie of the year and possibly the MVP.” You weren’t ready for that twist, were you? No one was!

Donald Trump is a big sports fan. He loves football and attended several NFL and college football games in 2024. This includes the Pittsburgh Steelers’ win over the New York Jets. That being said, Daniels isn’t really the leading candidate for the MVP award this season.

What about the RFK Stadium saga? Bowser dodged specifics on the stadium deal. But she made one thing clear—Trump knew Daniels. That’s good, we all do, but what about the Commanders’ dream of reclaiming RFK? That’s caught in legislative quicksand. A provision to transfer the RFK land to D.C. got yanked from Congress’ spending bill, derailing plans to bring the franchise back home. Imagine RFK’s 177 acres of asphalt and nostalgia, sitting unused while debates rage on. Painful, right?

Bowser didn’t mince words, though. “Have you been to RFK? Anybody? It’s 177 acres surrounded by asphalt and a stadium that hasn’t been used in 10 years,” she said in December 2024, calling it a “blight on the nation’s capital.” She pitched her case for the land transfer like a coach rallying the team before the fourth quarter. But with Trump and Elon Musk throwing shade on the earlier package, things are far from settled.

For now, the Commanders are playing a different game: Where to build next? They’re eyeing spots in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, with their Landover lease expiring in 2027. Owner Josh Harris even floated 2030 as a ‘reasonable target’ for a new stadium.
