The Miami Dolphins fans can rejoice tonight as they come out with a much-needed win against the Los Angeles Rams. But the game could have turned upside down if Tua Tagovailoa suffered another concussion. There was a high chance he could have. Tua turned the ball over and in an attempt to compensate, decided to tackle the Rams player.
The Rams player was running with all pistons firing and Tagovailoa got in the way and tried to stop him. The Dolphins QB ducked down and took a knee to his head in doing so. This could have given him the second concussion of the season. He had already missed 4 games due to a concussion. Fans feel like one of these days, Tagovailoa might say goodbye to playing football.
Tagovailoa was asked about the hit he took. However, he feels fine for the most part. Check out what Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post reported about Tua on X. “Tua Tagovailoa said: ‘I feel good. Everything is good. I went up to that dude that intercepted me and asked him ‘Dude you couldn’t just run out of bounds?’… I wasn’t planning on using my head… It was pretty bad tackling form. Pretty terrible.’”

The Dolphins QB completed 20 of his 28 passes against the Rams, throwing for 207 yards and a lone touchdown. Though Tagovailoa took three sacks, he ultimately made it out with an 89.4 passer rating. However, it’s still noteworthy that the QB has suffered three concussions in his career but isn’t deterred from playing hard-nosed football.
The last time he suffered a concussion was in the week 2 game against the Buffalo Bills when Tagovailoa rushed to get a down but hit Damar Hamlin’s knee with his head and went down. With this win against the Rams, the Miami Dolphins are 3-6 and will be playing against the Las Vegas Raiders in the next edition of Sunday Night Football.

Despite the 23-15 win, the Miami head coach looked a bit dejected. After all, he understands that Tagovailoa is a franchise QB and can’t be putting himself on the line like this. The Dolphins made him one of the richest QBs after giving him a 4-year $212.4 million extension this off-season. So, what does McDaniel think about tonight’s game?
“Tua gets so mad at himself and holds himself to a high standard but he’s also recognizing that he’s the franchise QB of this team. You can’t go too deep into your own self-lashing, you have to lead,” McDaniel said in the post-game presser.
