The Kansas City Chiefs are facing a new challenge, but this time it is off the football field. Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick, two promising linemen, have encountered legal troubles that could sideline them from more than just games.
“Chiefs OTs Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick were arrested on Thursday and charged with marijuana possession,” tweeted Ari Meirov. The duo posted a $2,500 bond each and were released the following day. The charges come at a time when the Chiefs are gearing up for a competitive season, making sure they continue their winning streak.
Morris, a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has been a cornerstone for the Chiefs’ offensive line. His performance in the last season, with a PFF grade of 55.6, showed promise for a stellar career ahead. If the reported charges lead to Morris missing the game, it can prove to be a significant blow to the Chiefs’ offensive strategy.

On the other hand, participating in the NFL International Player Pathway program is Godrick’s way of leaving a mark in NFL. In his last season, he made efforts to focus on practicing; thereby working hard in order to sharpen his skills while preparing for the main roster.
The Chiefs’ management has not commented on these recent arrests, but the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy is very clear that playing in the National Football League is a privilege and players should avoid any act that could damage league integrity or public confidence.
Shockingly, this drastic news has hit the Chiefs camp as they were still addressing legal matters concerning Rashee Rice. The wide receiver landed himself in troubled waters this off season which has led to serious problems not only for the player but also for the team as Rice has played an eminent role in the squad’s success last season.
Rashee Rice’s legal trouble and its impact on the Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs have recently been under the spotlight for legal problems with some of their players, most notably wide receiver Rashee Rice. The beginning of it all was when Rice was in a high speed hit-and-run crash in Dallas where he was allegedly driving at 119 miles per hour before causing a six-car pileup. A total of four people were injured during the accident and as a result, Rice is now facing multiple charges under felony law.

“Mr. Rice acknowledges his actions and feels deeply for those injured as a result of this accident,”said Texas Senator Royce West, the attorney representing Rice in court. Apart from this, a couple more allegations have been issued against the wide receiver. Due to which, there is a high possibility that Rice might face multi-game suspension.
Adam Schefter, ESPN Senior NFL insider highlighted the difficult position that Rice is in and said, “The league is certainly looking into it, and it certainly sounds like the Chiefs are bracing for a multi-game suspension for Rashee Rice and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be a part of that start of the Season that opening night game against the Baltimore Ravens.”

While it remains to be seen how things will unfold for Rice, Chiefs have another problem on their hands. The legal concerns with Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick might cause a dent in the diligently worked reputation of the Red Army who currently have not issued any statement with regards to the reported incident.
