Joe Burrow exited the season untimely after going out with a wrist injury against the Ravens. Later, it became clear that the QB had been facing a ligament issue from before the game. The Bengals aren’t in a favorable situation either to dream about the playoffs, with the latest loss leaving them 5-5 and without a quarterback. The only positive takeaway from the game remained Burrow’s final pass of the season, which resulted in a touchdown.

But Burrow himself had a few more takeaways from the brief season and from some moments, particularly the injury itself. The soft-spoken quarterback came to the press conference after the game to bid his adieu. He, however, didn’t look like someone going out with an injury. Burrow concluded the season on positive notes.

One reporter pointed out to Burrow that his final pass of the season was a touchdown and asked the quarterback his thoughts on the fact. A serious Burrow had a stoic answer: “The final one, not great… But was able to get it to him somehow.” This revealed his disappointment with the exit.

But his next words were pretty convincing. Another reporter asked if he felt any pain when his wrist popped. In reply, Burrow assured that there were no such concerns for him. “I mean, when you’re on the field, it’s… I would never describe anything on the field as pain. You’re just kind of in the moment experiencing things… I wouldn’t describe it as pain.”

Later, Burrow tried to explain that the brace spotted earlier on his wrist was just a compression sleeve. “This is a completely different thing. You know, it’s not uncommon for guys to wear compression sleeves on planes because when you go up to that altitude, you know, things can swell up. You know, in football, you have a lot of bumps and bruises… This is a completely new injury, so it was a compression system.”

However, the league doesn’t seem convinced it was just a sleeve. The Bengals are probably going to suffer more pain than the quarterback himself. While Burrow’s season has ended, his injury saga has just started.

Did the Bengals hide Joe Burrow from the injury report?

Burrow’s injury has created noise in the NFL. Clips emerged of Burrow using a brace around his wrist before the game. Despite his compression sleeve claim, the league launched an investigation into it amid allegations that the team hid the QB’s injury for obvious reasons. If proven guilty, the Bengals will endure further blows in fines and could even lose a 1st round draft pick from the NFL 2024.

The Bengals’ season is most likely doomed. The team is 5-5, and they were counting on a late surge from the Joe Burrow-Ja’Marr Chase pair, much like the past two seasons. But now the hopes are effectively gone. The latter had struggled lately with a back injury and is still looking for his best form. And before they could recover, the worst news was delivered to the Bengals in the name of Joe Burrow.
