Is Micah Parsons' off-field drama hurting the Cowboys more than his on-field performance helps?

The Cowboys lost, yet again. It’s like they can’t seem to buy a dub since Jerry Jones said he’s happy with the 3 wins. Now, the Eagles flew past them with a 34-6 drubbing, and returning LB Micah Parsons could do nothing about it apart from 2 sacks and some stern words about HC Mike McCarthy. Well, the latter seemed to have gotten him down on a trip to the X streets, folks.

Former NFLer Harry Douglas wasn’t about to let Parsons off the hook, tweeting, “I told y’all, @MicahhParsons11 is a PHENOMENAL player. BUT he talks too damn much… That s–t isn’t cute & is very DISRESPECTFUL to his entire LOCKER ROOM.” But if Douglas thought he was not going to hear from Parsons, well, he was mistaken.  The Cowboys’ star brought his own spicy retort.

“You want some attention, huh? I’m not finna carry your career and boost your following!!” he tweeted in response.

Well, it all started ahead of the week 10 kick-off, when Dallas announced that QB Dak Prescott would need season-ending surgery. What’s that got to do with the drama? Um, it just brought more chaos to an already beleaguered Dallas. And then, the humiliating loss at the hands of Philly was just the tipping point from where Parsons couldn’t hold back.

To be fair to Parson he was asked what would he tell people questioning McCarthy’s future as HC and he replied, “That’s above my pay grade if Mike is coaching next year. Mike can leave and go wherever he wants.” But the second part of his statement stirred controversy. He praised future Hall of Fame guard Zack Martin while throwing shade at his HC: “You want to win games and do great things with those legends who put in more time and work than Mike McCarthy ever did.”

We expect this to happen, right? Look at it from the outside. Parsons isn’t exactly a stranger to stirring things up. He just can’t be a passerby when he’s got a podcast, The Edge. So, you’d expect him to dish on all things football. Guess that’s where it might be stretching a bit too much, considering he’s an active player. That’s just treading on hot waters.

Have an interesting take?

And that’s what Harry Douglas called him out for. Yes, while he’s getting a bit of a strong retort from Parsons, he wasn’t alone as former NFL player and current ESPN analyst Damien Woody also called out Parsons for his actions on ESPN Monday morning.

The two-time Super Bowl Champion said, “Who the hell does Micah Parsons think he is talking like that after a game? Bro, you’ve been missing all these games with the injury… that’s what’s going on with all these podcast boys out here in the locker room.”

Thin ice or no, now Parsons says he’s ready to “address all of this [drama] today.” If you follow him, he even threw a call out for his fans to “Tune into The Edge.” Guess it’s just the start of something the Cowboys Nation did not expect to see. Dramas aside, did Parsons really announce himself back (strongly) on the gridiron?

Micah Parsons got a point?

First look at that 34-6 scoreline, and it’s clear—no one on America’s Team had a day to remember. Not exactly the ideal stage for Micah Parsons to make his return. Coming back from an ankle injury, Parsons was needed in a big way, especially with Prescott out for the season. So how did he respond? By bringing the heat early, strip-sacking Jalen Hurts, and setting up Dallas with a prime field position.

But then… the Cowboys did what they have been doing all season. They stalled, only managing an FG, and things went downhill fast as Philly went on a scoring spree, leaving the home team in dust. And it was enough for Parsons to say what he did.

It’s no surprise that Micah Parsons’ comments struck a chord, especially since he continued to hint that McCarthy just doesn’t carry the same weight for him as longtime vets like Martin. It’s easy to see why: players’ careers are short, and guys like Martin don’t get many shots at a championship. Parsons seemed to be voicing the frustrations of those who might be playing their last snaps in a Cowboys jersey.

Of course, Parsons wasn’t the only one talking. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones chimed in, saying he “regretted” past in-season coaching changes and believes there’s still “hope” for Dallas. But let’s face it, sitting at 3-6 with a battered roster and dwindling playoff odds, Dallas fans aren’t feeling much hopeful. And as the season slips away, the tension between players and coaches seems to be bubbling over.
