Is Justin Fields the future of the Steelers, or is this just a temporary fix?

The Steelers are getting more and more votes about the starting quarterback. While Russell Wilson is preparing to return from his calf injury, Justin Fields is the rising star. Boy, oh boy! He has been phenomenal during the games. The young quarterback has made no turnovers, something everyone has noticed. And the results have also been in their favor: two games, two wins. The team staff is also impressed by Fields.

Arthur Smiththe Steelers’ offensive coordinator, praised the young quarterback. He said, “He’s playing very smart football situationally, understanding the plan, understanding the attack, and what we’re trying to accomplish. And what’s been encouraging to me is his pocket presence.” Fields has definitely studied the plans carefully. He hasn’t let fans miss the veteran quarterback.

Russell Wilson suffered an injury setback just before the season was about to start. He wanted to perform better and up his stock as he was signed to the team only for 1 year. But one after another, he has been missing games. And he wouldn’t be there during the week 3 game against Chargers as well. Justin Fields will lead them upfront.

He’s stood in there when the pocket gets dirty. He’s made some big throws down the field. I’m very encouraged,” these were the exact words of Arthur Smith. The OC is totally in love with the young quarterback. With a 94.4 passer rating, he (Fields) is also ready for the next adventure.

While they have won the first 2 games, the offense hasn’t looked at its best.

Can Justin Fields command the offense to pick up?

What’s your perspective on:

Is Justin Fields the future of the Steelers, or is this just a temporary fix?

Have an interesting take?

In the first 2 games of 2024, Steelers offense recorded a run-pass ratio of 62-38 with the league high 77 rush attempts than 44 passing attempts. With young players in the attack, they have scored only 31 points. The offensive coordinator understand that and said, “I feel like I’m, we’re like a startup on offense, a startup company, really. It really is. … It’s a constant work in progress. We’ll get there.

If they want to reach there, Justin Fields is the key. He needs to be in sync with the young offensive players. In the quarterback runs, he is 2nd in the league with 22 for 84 yards, but in the long run, he gets far behind with only 16 yards. Smith has all the experience. They are already plotting the next moves.

Head Coach Mike Tomlin has clarified that in the 3rd game, Justin Fields would start for the Steelers. What do you think? Shall Russell Wilson be given a chance or kept on the sidelines if they win?
