The most exciting rivalry in the NFL is about to reoccur as Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs visit Josh Allen and the squad at the Highmark Stadium. This is it! This is the Chiefs’ first time since 2015 visiting the Buffalo Bills’ stadium. Mahomes has taken it upon himself to beat the Bills in one of the most thrilling places to play football.

This is the fourth time since 2013 that the Chiefs have visited the Highmark Stadium and won all of them. Buffalo is as cold as ever. But Mahomes plays at Arrowhead Stadium, which recently hosted one of the coldest games in NFL history against the Dolphins. But it’s the Bills Stadium’s environment that he is most concerned about.

Mahomes hasn’t played a road game in a while, which has become the town’s talk. After the 2023 AFC Divisional round game, Mahomes came forward to discuss what we could expect from the Chiefs in an away game. He was asked how challenging it would be to play in an away game after this long. By the looks of it, he looks forward to playing in a “hostile environment.”

“Obviously, I’ve been lucky enough to play a lot of games at home at Arrowhead Stadium. Kind of just everything felt that way. But now we get a great opportunity to go on the road, play in a hostile environment, one that I haven’t been able to play with fans in the stands, and even though I know some hostile and it’s gonna be there people talking trash anything like that I’m excited for it because and it’s one of the best environments in football.”

But it’s not just the fans and the vibe that might be a thorn in the way for Mahomes. It’s also the weather in the Bills Stadium in January. The game against the Steelers had to be postponed after Highmark was a foot deep in snow.

The Chiefs did play one of the coldest games in NFL history against the Miami Dolphins, so as far as the cold is concerned, the QB is not bothered. Yet, he is calm about the weather and how they might affect the game. A reporter asked Mahomes if he is “intimidated” by the weather at Highmark since it’s the Bills’ forte to play games in cold January.

“I mean cold’s cold. I don’t know. I have them played in Buffalo in January, but I know it’s a great environment. But it’s not -30 (degrees Fahrenheit) this weekend. It’s gonna be -3 or 4, and it’s going to be windy and cold, and we know it’s a great challenge. But I don’t know if it beats the cold that we played in this last week.”

While Mahomes is accustomed to the weather, and it won’t be a problem for him, another thing puts the Chiefs at an advantage. During the game against the Steelers, the Bills were heavily battered. With three injuries in a single game, their defense has taken a toll. So Mahomes and Co. might still have a chance to progress further.
