Things are getting a bit spicy in the City of Brotherly Love—not because of cheesesteaks. Instead, it’s because of the Mayor of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania (which is just outside of Philadelphia). Ed Brown, the man in question, is catching some serious heat from Eagles fans, but not because of his unsatisfactory governance. Brown got shredded to pieces in a recent town meeting because of his diehard allegiance to the Eagles’ NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys.

You know how intense the Eagles-Cowboys rivalry can be. And considering Mayor Brown has been living in the Eagles territory for nearly 30 years and is still supporting their fiercest rivals, it was always going to upset someone in Philly, where football loyalty is a serious business. So, when an Eagles fan got a chance to express his grievances about Mayor Brown’s leadership in a township meeting, he linked his poor leadership to his Cowboy roots.

“This is what happens, guys—residents of Upper Darby Township—when you elect a Cowboys fan to your government. 29 years of losing for this team. What do you expect from the leadership?” the man said, wearing an Eagles shirt with their second Lombardi printed in it. This man wasn’t afraid to speak his mind, showing how passionate he can be, even at a local council meeting. But whatever he said about the Cowboys couldn’t be more right.

Under Jerry Jones’ leadership, the Cowboys may have been a dynasty in the 1990s, winning 3 Super Bowls. But since the early 90s, the Cowboys have been reduced to a laughingstock, at least to the Eagles. In their 29-year Super Bowl drought, the Cowboys have only made the playoff 13 times. 3 of those came in the last 4 seasons, which shows how far America’s Team has regressed. And to make matters worse, they haven’t reached the NFC Championship game since that 1995 season.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have turned into a powerhouse in recent times. They won their first Lombardi in 2018. Then, within 7 years, the Eagles captured their second beating 3-peat chasing Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. That’s why Philly fans are flying while the Cowboys are still stuck in the ’90s era. And funnily enough, Ed Brown isn’t the only Cowboy who got heckled by the Eagles fans. Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott also found himself in the crossfire of some passionate Eagles’ fans thousands of miles away from home.

Eagles fans serve Dak Prescott with a memorable Bahamas gift

Earlier in March, when the off-season was in full swing. Prescott was unfortunate enough to find some Eagles’ fans nearby during his vacation to the Bahamas. A group of girls celebrating their bachelorette in the Baha Mar resort suddenly came across Prescott and his pregnant fiancee, Sarah James Ramos. Seeing them pass by those groups of Eagles supporters, they didn’t pass on the opportunity to heckle Prescott. On an Instagram reel, they were captured chanting, “E-A-G-L-E-S! Eaglessssss!” as Prescott and Sarah quietly walked by.

What’s your perspective on:

Can a Cowboys fan truly lead in Eagles territory, or is Mayor Brown doomed from the start?

They didn’t even bother acknowledging those jeers as the girls made the most of their opportunity. Well, those taunts didn’t just come after the Eagles captured their second Lombardi last season. It also came on the back of Prescott’s comments that the Cowboys weren’t far away from matching the reigning Super Bowl Champions’ level. “I feel like we’ve competed with the Eagles and beat them for the most part when we’ve played them. I don’t want to say. Check the record when the other guy is holding the trophy right now. They have earned it, and they deserve it by all means. But year, we’re very close,” Prescott said in February.

The Cowboys have a lot of catching up to do if they really want to stop those taunts from Philly supporters. First, they would obviously have to beat them in the regular season. From there, they need to break their NFC Championship drought and then try to capture that all-elusive Super Bowl trophy. Only doing those things will allow America’s team to get some sort of respect back!!
