The NFL offseason never fails to surprise us, and now it looks like the champions might have some excitement in store. After their amazing Super Bowl win, the Eagles gearing are up for another shot at the championship, but not every spot on the team is a sure thing. There’s some buzz around a key defensive player possibly leaving, and that has left fans wondering—will he stick around to help defend the title, or is a fresh start in the cards?
Well, if it comes down to it, what was the biggest reason behind the Eagles’ success this season? Frankly, it might just be their performance in last year’s free agency. I mean, getting in Saquon Barkley and Zack Baun was a great decision, and well, it paid off big, didn’t it? Baun especially was just phenomenal, making it to the All-Pro first team. The question now is: will he return to Philly? Well, on 97.5 The Fantastic Podcast they discussed free agency, and frankly warned Nick Sirianni: If they don’t sign Baun at the price he is asking—there are many teams that will: “There are a lot of reports outside of Philadelphia that there are many teams interested in Zack Baun for a big dollar amount.”
Two weeks later and it’s still a Championship Monday — but now the combine is here and we’re full steam ahead into the offseason.

Baun signed a one-year deal worth $3.5 million with the Eagles, and if reports are to be believed, he’s now seeking a three-year, $40 million contract. Yes, $40 million. That’s a significant amount of money, and it seems the Eagles aren’t very willing to pay that. However, surely Sirianni won’t let Baun leave, right? I mean, one of the key factors in the Eagles’ success was the presence of excellent linebackers. Baun is arguably the best linebacker in the NFL, and letting him go might not be the wisest decision, would it?
Baun, Barkey, Brown, and Jalen Hurts were the key players for the Eagles this season and played a big part in the victory. And while Baun’s future is uncertain, the Super Bowl MVP is back at training. In a clip shared by the NFL on Instagram, Hurts can be seen at the training gridiron, and that too on a Sunday. Well, it seems like there’s no offseason for the champ.

Well, what else can you expect from someone who, after winning one of the biggest games of his career, said: “It’s only the beginning until it’s the end, and the end ain’t coming anytime soon.” It is clear that being a Super Bowl champion has not diminished the fire inside Hurts. And well, that’s what makes him an ‘alpha’, right?
Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown are ‘alphas’
“We’re two alphas who want to be the best.” When you see Jalen Hurts and Brown take the field, this certainly feels true, right? I mean, the duo has been dominant this season, establishing themselves as the most prolific pairing in the NFL. They work exceptionally well together, which is clear in the stats: When playing with Brown, Hurts boasts a passer rating of 97.9 with 9,810 yards and 61 touchdowns across 44 games. In contrast, when playing without Brown, his rating drops to 85.2 with only 4,857 yards and 24 touchdowns. The difference is striking, right?

That’s why Eagles’ fans were concerned when news broke about the pair’s discord. Fortunately, Brown has shed some light on the matter: “I’d be lying if I told you we never had any issues. We’re two alphas who want to be the best and demand greatness from each other and those around us. Some reports are true, and some aren’t. But he and I are good, man.” Hearing this will surely bring relief to Philly fans.
While the Hurts-Brown situation may be resolved, the Eagles still have some issues to address, and quickly. The Zack Baun situation is particularly critical for them, and Sirianni will need to make a decision soon. With potential roster changes on the horizon, it’s hard to predict what’s next for Philadelphia. The big question is: are we about to see a significant shake-up?
