It’s refreshing to see that Dak Prescott finally has some proponents in the league who want to see him get paid. Prescott, who is at the end of his 4-year, $160 million deal with the Dallas Cowboys, is due for an extension and hasn’t heard the sound of money coming in. On the other hand, Trevor Laurence, who had a winning season with the Jags last year, just got paid.

Robert Griffin III decided to side with Prescott and ignored the playoff narrative that everybody was gaga over. He took it to X and shared why the Dallas signal caller deserves to get paid.

“Cowboys better pay Dak Prescott ASAP. Because yesterday’s price AIN’T TODAY’S PRICE. Trevor Lawrence just got $55 million per year,” said RGIII’s post on X. Lawrence getting a hefty paycheck means that the quarterback market is about to reset again, as Lawrence signed a 5-year, $275 million deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, giving him $200 million in guarantees and $142 million in guarantees at the time of signing.

Now, the Jags QB matches what Joe Burrow makes, which is one of the highest fees in the league right now. So where does this leave Dak Prescott? So far, Jerry Jones hasn’t addressed his promise of going “all-in.” Dallas Cowboys didn’t sing a QB in the 2024 draft and chose to focus on O-linemen, LBs, and edge rushers except Ryan Flournoy, a receiver from Southeast Missouri State.

Judy Battista came on a segment on NFL Network and said, “Remember Jerry Jones said he wanted to wait for some more leaves to fall? Well, it’s a blizzard of leaves now for the NFL quarterbacks.” A lot of analysts see Prescott’s contract going as high as $60 million a year and the longer Jerry Jones waits, the higher the prices he’s going to have to pay.

Dak Prescott is not the people’s favorite

There are absolutely no positive comments on RGIII’s post on Prescott. Either people don’t want him to get paid or they’re waiting for him to leave, which is essentially the same thing. One thing that’s seldom talked about is the cap hit that Dak carries this year. He counts against $55.45 million in cap hits for the Dallas Cowboys because they structured his contract in such a manner that his cap hits just increased exponentially every year.

Remember, the Cowboys haven’t paid CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons either. Lamb is another big problem for America’s team because now he’s seeking a deal closer to what Justin Jefferson made, a whopping 4-year $140 million deal with $110 million in guarantees. Meanwhile, Micah Parsons finally started showing up for training and might play as a DE this year.

Others, like Tua Tagovailoa and Jordan Love, are also in line to get paid with their respective teams. If Jerry Jones wanted, he could have paid Dak Prescott earlier and avoided the chance of paying a gargantuan salary to their QB. But waiting for “leaves to fall” has left the Cowboys owner with even more problems.
