The New England Patriots just can’t catch a break. The team’s performance has been below average for the season as they rank dead last in the AFC East. According to recent news, the WR Kendrick Bourne has taken a blow and tore his ACL against the Miami Dolphins. What’s sad about this is that Bourne was one of the key offensive pieces that the Patriots have, and an ACL injury is not an easy one to recover from. This happened in the 4 quarter during a third-and-9 play. He spent some time in the pop-up medical tent but was quickly rushed to the locker room and was ruled out for the rest of the game.

His return to the field is yet to be confirmed, and he is scheduled for an MRI to evaluate the gravity of his ACL injury. According to Ian Rapoport, Bourne could have an MCL injury, but it is yet to be confirmed.
This has come at a very odd time because Bourne has a lot on his plate right now. So far, his career with the Patriots has been mutually beneficial, as he assists the Patriots with things that are not in his job description.

Bourne is in his 7 NFL season, and he started with the San Francisco 49ers back in 2017. In the 2023 season alone, he scored 4 touchdowns and made 37 receptions for 406 yards. He was at the height of his career, more or less, when the savage injury took over him and ruled him out for an indefinite time. He has been the talk of the trading block considering he’s nearing the end of his contract with the Patriots, but the injury has brought in some complications.
The NFL prohibits the teams from trading injured players. Due to the unknown nature of his injury and an indefinite healing time, getting traded would not be possible for Bourne anytime soon. Another reason why he was so valuable is because he fills in the spot for other players and has the capacity to switch roles at any given moment, making him unpredictable.
