Denver Broncos CB Patrick Surtain II has Inception-level sleeping skills. The Broncos’ season ended early after the Bills brutally kicked them out in the Wild Card round with a 31-7 loss. But Patrick is back playing football in the Pro Bowl. The Alabama alum made it to the Pro Bowl this year too, bringing his total to three. Before diving into the Pro Bowl action, Surtain had a chat with one of our favorite football hosts, Kay Adams. And the Broncos CB dropped an interesting tidbit about himself. On the other side of things, Denver’s head coach, Sean Payton, is dealing with some shake-ups. But more on that later.
On Thursday, Kay Adams dropped a new video on her YouTube channel, and this one’s a gem. She got the chance to sit down with Patrick Surtain II. And things took a hilarious turn. Kay caught the 24-year-old off guard with a fun, out-of-the-blue question: “I heard that if there was a Pro Bowl skills challenge in sleeping or napping anywhere, you’d win that, like, immediately. Is that true?” Surtain couldn’t stop laughing as Kay tossed this curveball his way. “Probably so. I’m liable to fall asleep everywhere if I’m getting too comfortable, for sure,” he shared with a grin.

Adams then joked, warning Patrick not to fall asleep in the middle of the Pro Bowl. “Don’t fall asleep in the middle of a Pro Bowl challenge. Do not fall asleep when your name might be called for Defensive Player of the Year,” she said with a laugh. The Pro Bowl Games are set to be played from January 30 to February 2 in Florida. Surtain will be playing with the AFC as the starting CB.
Surtain II had a brilliant 2024 season. Across 16 games he had 45 tackles and made 4 interceptions. Surtain’s most impactful play of the season came in Week 5, that too, before a home crowd. With the Broncos trailing by seven and in danger of falling further behind, Raiders quarterback Gardner Minshew targeted Bowers in the end zone. Significantly, Surtain stepped in, intercepted the pass, and raced 100 yards for a Denver touchdown. Moreover, in the same game, he had a 100-yard interception, which was the second-longest pick-six in Broncos franchise history.
Surtain earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his standout performance. That was just the beginning of the Broncos’ rise. They won their 7 out of 10 next games, landing in the playoffs. He earned a Pro Bowl call in 2023-24 as well.
Now, what’s the tea on Sean Payton’s staff personnel parting ways with him?
Sean Payton now has to find a new Senior Personnel Executive
It looks like the Denver Broncos have taken some sort of hit from the Lions, which is why they keep losing their staff members to them. Sean Payton now has to start his search to fill up all the positions left empty. Broncos Senior Personnel Executive David Shaw has parted ways with Payton to become the Lions’ passing game coordinator. Shaw said goodbye to the team after working for only a year. The 52-year-old’s CV boasts varied experiences, including both coaching and executive roles.
Broncos passing game coordinator John Morton also left for Detroit. He will be taking over as the Lions’ OC after Ben Johnson left to become the Bears‘ head coach. Coaches, players, and executives are all making moves now that the regular season has ended.
On one side, the team is losing key staff members. On the other, the Broncos’ Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group has initiated a major philanthropic move for Colorado high schools. Moreover, they will be giving away over 15,000 brand-new Riddell Axiom helmets for free to every high school program in the state. Named ‘ALL IN. ALL COVERED,’ the Broncos will be rolling out this program through 2028. With their philanthropy program kicking off, hopefully, they will also be able to find new coaches for their team.
