Patrick Queen will be facing his previous home for the first time this upcoming season. After spending four seasons with his draft team, the former Baltimore Ravens linebacker joins Russell Wilson’s crew and would be working to stop his former teammates in the game.
After a career-best season last year, as many as 15 teams were interested in the 24-year-old, as per reports. But Queen decided to go with the rivals of his previous team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, with a three-year deal worth $41 million. Now clad in the Steelers’ black and gold, the LB would face his former teammate, the formidable quarterback Lamar Jackson.

In a recent interview on the Steelers-DB, the linebacker was asked the burningest question about his former teammate: how to slow down Lamar Jackson. Queen described how the Ravens quarterback has “everything in the bag,” so the team can’t rely on one technique throughout the play. Instead, the defense and the offense would have to confuse him with a mix-up of strategies.
Another factor that the Wilson-headed squad should pay attention to, as per Queen, is the defensive line. “I think you either had to immediately get press in his face right now and stop him from running or stop him from quick passing right now or just confuse him and try to show different coverages behind every single play because if you give him time -he eventually gonna find a way to get the ball out.” Undoubtedly, Jackson would be the prime focus of any team facing the Ravens, and for good reason, too, especially now that the QB has some no-look passes under his sleeve.
“It’s just a hard guy to stop,” said Queen. “He definitely has a lot of no-looks -that I got from practicing against him, like he’ll be looking this way he can still fire back this other way.” Wilson would need to pull up his socks when facing Baltimore in November, but having Queen on the roster would definitely provide the insider insight they need to tackle the QB. As for Jackson, the 27-year-old had a hilarious reaction to his fellow linebacker leaving the Ravens for the Steelers.
Wilson and Jackson react to Queen’s switch to Pittsburgh
Queen bid adieu to his first home in the league by posting a heartfelt message on X, thanking everyone in Ravens Nation, from the cafe team and media team to the front office, coaches, and his teammates. However, before the LB could make the rumored reports of his transfer official, Jackson already had a cheeky response to the news!
The quarterback replied to the NFL’s report with a Spongebob meme and wrote, “You’re Dead to us, Queen. Good luck, You’re Dead to me.”

Queen had his anticipations about how he would be received by the Steelers, the rivals of his former team. He was especially unsure about T.J. Watts, as he revealed to USA Today; however, everything seemed to span out swimmingly well for Queen. “When you’re on the opposite of the rivalry, you don’t know everybody, but you know the team,” said the LB. “So, I did expect some people to have some attitudes. I did expect some people to be a little rough. But everybody’s been smooth, everybody been cool. T.J. is the one I expected to be on the other side. But everybody is cool. I couldn’t ask for a better place.”
Moreover, Wilson, leading from the front, was one of the first ones to welcome the linebacker with an exciting message on social media. He wrote “QUEEEEENNN!” and tagged the newest addition to Pittsburgh.
