Patrick Mahomes must muster all the agility and strength as the Kansas City Chiefs head to Allegiant Stadium to fight for the Vince Lombardi Trophy against the San Francisco 49ers. The Chiefs are hard at training, and so is their signal caller. The clock is ticking down, and there’s no provision for rest for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, the Chiefs quarterback addressed the media and shed light on his workout routines and how he deals with the opportunity to capitalize on the Super Bowl. It’s safe to say that 8-10 hours of work plus spending time with the family is not exactly a cakewalk. But here Mahomes is, grabbing huge incentives, winning off-season games, and still finding time for his family.

A reporter brought up Bobby Stroupe, Mahomes’ performance coach, and wanted to know how his training regimen with Stroupe paid off. He also wanted to see how the “weird” workouts the Chiefs’ signal caller was doing helped with his injury recovery. Patrick took a light jab at his performance coach and said Stroupe’s presentation might have been directed toward him because he constantly questions him about his workout routines.

“So, I think he showed that for everybody but that was really directed towards me because I hate doing all that stuff, and every time he doesn’t like why am I, why am I doing this stretch right now and everything like that and then he gets an opportunity like that when he shows his like see this is why we do it now that will be a staple and every workout I do,” he said. Mahomes’ statement made everyone in the room chuckle.

It just makes one wonder what Patrick Mahomes’ workout entails and why he thinks the “weird” stretches are pointless.

Strength training, leg training, core training, and nutrition are some of the primary focal points of his workout. Being a QB, Mahomes has to be quick, flexible, and strong, and Stroupe has given him all the facilities to do just that. He has 8–10-hour sessions with his performance coach on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.

Some granny tosses, sit-up med ball throws, and shotput throws have proven to increase Mahomes’ core strength so he can handle the ball better and throw it wherever he wants to. This develops his core and upper body strength. On top of that, the Chiefs QB has a challenging leg exercise routine where he does 10-yard sprints with hurdles and broad jumps on a single leg. This routine strengthens his legs and his running game.

Not to mention all the sled pushing and pulling along with strength training exercises like front foot elevated split squats, deadlifts, push-ups, and pullups (3-position isometric). As for nutrition, Brittany Mahomes ensures that Patrick eats quality food thrice daily. Fruits are also a considerable part of his diet. Mahomes mentioned to Balance The Grind that he would not count the calories, but he is wary of the quality of his food.
